What to do?

I bought a 2002 Se from a local carmax store and I had a few problems with the car and upon looking deeper into some of them the local carmax found a little damage on the frame and they want to buy the car back from me and let me buy another car from them. I can't find another Max from them with low enough miles. I found a 04 6speed but it has 26,000 miles on it and I have also found 2 2003 I35 with 9 and 14,000 miles on them for the same price. I was just wondering what to do.

Tell them to give you your money back or you will go to the news... supposedly they test all the cars. Would not be fun to have this go any further. OR Sweeten the deal big time...

Depending on how much is "a little frame damage." Frame damage can be repaired and brought back to factory specs. It all depends on how much you want to go through. I'm sure that they can't MAKE you bring the car back. If you really like that particular car that you got, and you don't want to get rid of it, then fight 'em on the issue. Tell them they need to fix the car AND provide you with a rental car until your car is repaired properly. You should not be responsible for any out of pocket expenses. After all, it wasn't your fault that THEY sold you this car. And, it sounds like this dealer is one of those "certified pre-owned vehicles," kind of car dealers. I'm sure there can be some sort of consequences to selling a car that wasn't "certified". Does Carmax use that term, "Certified Pre-owned Vehicles?" I know that this is phrase used at car dealers here in Hawaii. Sorry, we don't have Carmax here. Good Luck!

they have given me grandprix gt to drive untill this issue is resolved. I just don't know which way to go I35 with no miles on it or go to an 04 6speed max with some miles on it.

I would go with max. Infiniti is more expensive on repairs, or at least the dealer charges you more for it. WHich one is cheaper? or better yet, which one do you like more?

The 04 miles are high because of its age but in all consideration those are very low miles for a car such as this since they run forever when properly cared for.

I worked for Carmax for a little over a year. Let them buy the car and find something else. It would be wise for you to cut yourself from loosing any money now, and take advantage of the buy back. Tell them what you want and give them a certain amount of time to locate it, after that let them know that you will go elsewhere. Make it look to them like you're doing them a favor by giving them a chance to make things right.

good luck,
p

CarMax maybe trying to get him to trade in so they generate the revenue. Did you buy your 2k2 from them brand new or used, and when? See what they are going to give you for your 2k2. I would buy a G35 over 04 Max. IMHO G35 is more refined. Let them show you the actual damage on the car. See what kind of a deal they're giving you on replacement car. If it is anything above trade in value, walk away and ask 100% of your money back

I wouldn't take less than 100% of a refund.

they are buying the car back for what I paid for it and taking me back to square one. Just like I'm starting all over. I'm trying to find a car within carmax for the 24,998 price range and the nicest that I have found were some I35's and a 2004 maxima se 6speed with 26,000 miles.
