The how-to thread in the stickies doesn't have a link that works anymore. The fronts came off very easily but I can't seem to get the rears off. I am trying to smoke my sidemarkers to match the black paint (as irish did) and need to get the rears off as well. Thanks to a crappy nozzle on a can of dupli-color, the fronts did not come out as well as i had hoped. Thanks for the help.

 

OK, so I just put the fronts back on and apparently both of the bulbs for the front sidemarkers are out. Is this a frequent occurence and where can I find a good replacement? It's kinda funny, because as you can see in my sig photo, the fronts are working just fine (about 2 months ago when i bought it).

 

to get the rear markers off you have to push the clear part of the lights with a flat head screwdriver (covered in towel) towards the front of the car.

 

Okay, I will try that again tomorrow afternoon. I tried to do what I could this evening on those, but still had no luck. Now my main problem is figuring out how to fix the lights on the fronts. Would polarg M4's do a decent job, considering I have smoked the covers with a couple coats of black paint?

EDIT: Here's another question I hadn't really thought of and someone just asked me....is it legal to have smoked sidemarkers?

 

I smoked the stock amber and red corners with Nite Shades paint. You can see a bit of the red in the rear corner. I have the stock bulbs.

Technically, I think the corners need to be reflective to be legal (just like the tail lights). Mine reflect a very small amount through the tinting paint. I've not had any 'legal' problems. I doubt this is a priority with my local law enforcement.

 

Well....the only thing I needed to hear was that they were illegal and off came the black paint (a pain in the *** too I might add). Norman PD will do absolutely anything to pull someone over and they are notorious for being total a-holes when it comes to stuff like this.

Here are what mine look like with clear corners... I have the 194 inverted lense bulbs...

 

Too bad about how strict the police are in your areas. I would think you would still be 'legal' if there was even a small amount of reflectivity to them (like mine)

 

Has anyone here used the Polarg M4 bulbs (8.99) for their sidemarkers? I looked on autolumination but could not really find anything to my liking.

OK, thanks. Sorry I am a bit edgy this morning. I think I have decided to just stick with what I have now and maybe contemplate ordering clears, although I like the blacked out look considerably more than the clears on the black paint. Thanks again for the help.

What is the users manual? The owners manual that comes with the car or another manual. If there in anythng like a Chiltons manual out there I would love to get one. Can anyone tell me where I can get a repair manual for a 03 Max?

 

Yeah, these guys are referring to the owners manual in your glove compartment... as for repair manuals... I think Haynes has one? Or so I've heard....

 

I've just done this two weeks ago with the help of a guy at sportcompactonly.com on the phone and I disagree with the above qouted statement.

I found that it required much less force (therefore less likelihood of damage) to insert the towel covered screwdriver in between the rear marker and the similarly shaped, body colored wedge piece. Basically pushing the light more towards the rear of the car. The light released much much easier this way.

This may have been what pana69 meant, but not sure.

 

You're right, I believe... at least that's how I always do it and they come off easily... and yeah, the other way is almost a sure way to scrape some paint off... I know, cuz I've done that too....

 

There are no Haynes/Chilton manuals out yet for the 2k2/2k3. Best bet is to try Ebay for a cd of the factory service manual.
