people w/cattman exhaust

i have a cattman catback and it makes a ticking sound...when driving/parked after driving..pretty much when the car is warm...its a loud tick or clank...sounds like its coming from the resonator..anyone have this problem?...it ticks every 1 or 2 minutes...something like that......Also...when going around a tight turn and hitting the gas..the exhaust makes a wierd grumbling sound..anyone else have this?

I have a 2k1 with Cattman Y-Pipe & mid-pipe + powertech muffler, the mid pipe knock on the cross member and the muffler section knock on the top of the rear axel beam, I though of removing it but there must be a reason why it's there... As for the muffler I'm going to buy a Cattman and get rid of the PowerTech. I'm shure Cattman did his homework and hopefully the knocking will stop.

Cheers

That's not going to solve the issue.

joeyd - Often times when guys install aftermarket exhaust, there tends to be a slight rubbing / vibration against a small cross beam near the cat.

YO I HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS YOU! Damn I thought I was the only one too....and i was kinda embarassed to post about this problem becuz it sounds so dumb ...see the thing is....even like 5 minutes after I turn off my car...theres a ticking noise every 10 seconds.....and nobody can say "oh its rubbing/banging against something" becuz the car is turned off and nothing is moving...the ticking noise is loud too btw....I could hear it from like 50ft away if theres no other distractions around me.....oh yeah its coming from the end of the bpipe....nowhere near the resonator.....so what do you think it is? Cattman should step in and answer the questions....

lots of cars make that noise after you drive them....even stock. i am not sure what it is, but i doubt its anything to worry about. could just be the exhaust cooling down?

I have driven many cars, and none of them make the noise that my cattman c-back is making after turning it off.....From accords to camrys....to TL-S to Maximas....none of them make that ticking noise....or maybe they do but NOWHERE near as loud as my 2k2 maxima with cattman c-back....so I dunno whats up....and i'm pretty darn sure its not the car's fault either......becuz if another member with the exact same catback is experiencing the same noise....then it must be the exhaust....

It's the sound of the metal reacting to the change in temperature.

Thats what it is, ever since it has gotten cooler down here in Fl ,after start ups duing anytime of day , my exhaust will make a slight rubbing sound for the first 5 minutes, which is basiaclly the warm up time for my engine, after that, its fine.

A we are talking about our aftermarket cattman exhaust..not our stock exhaust.....B did your cars make a loud clank while driving under normal conditions...i dont think so..and i know it is not normal...it is normal for your exhaust to click after you turn your car off and it is cooling down......im sure its probably happening because of heat but it is not a normal condition...for me and the other guy that is having this problem...what do you think we should do?...where'd you get your exhaust from?

your talking about a ticking...almost like a pinging sound or something right? my sentra used to make it with stock exhaust, my moms impala makes it with stock exhaust, my max made it with stock exhaust and now the cattman does it. you can hear it from under the car after you park it go ping, ping, ping for a while.

atleast i think thats what your talking about

Lytheum - Yes its a pinging noise....but let me tell you....its NOWHERE near stock noise.....yes I have heard stock cars that ping from the exhaust after u turn it off....but this is a VERY LOUD ping.....it can be heard from over 100ft away.....its starting to bug becuz today I was sitting there at the drive thru with the car turned off (long drive thru line) and everybody kept starring at my cuz it kept on pinging even with the motor off....sounds pretty stupid but I aint the only one with this problem....

JoeyD - I bought mine from Cattman directly...where did you buy yours? If this problem doesn't go away within a week or so...I'm going to give cattman a call.....

And to the rest of you folks....THIS IS NOT NORMAL!!! trust me on this one you guys....I bet you think the pinging noise is very quiet and minimal....no it's not....its VERY LOUD....way louder than a stock exhaust after you turn it off....and its coming from the BPIPE area....not the muffler.....oh yeah towards the end of the bpipe not the beginning.....like where bpipe "bend" is...

Its the metal cooling down. Maybe its louder than stock only because it is made out of better material than stock. Or maybe because it is larger than stock. I have ypipe and cattman catback and I have heard it before . Try listening for something when you have a v1 screaming in you ear!
I also took that cross section out that causes lot s of vibration from the exhuast sitting on it.

so if the noise is because the exhaust is made of a different material than stock, we can assume that there really is not any problem at all?

If everyone is hearing the same thing than it sounds like a normal thing to me. I think that would make the most sense, dont you ?

If its the metal cooling down....then can you explain to me why I can still hear it with the car turned on? Even after heavy city driving with WOT runs here and there....It still pings

just because everyone hears the noise does NOT make it normal.
