Tinting dot matrix

I had my windows tinted a while ago and the place did a half a$$ job tinting the dot matrix which is at the top of the rear window. After doing some research and asking around I realized that many people don't tint that area on their max. I spoke to the guy at the tinting place and he says they can cut that part of the tint off and remove it while leaving the rest of the window tinted. Is there any danger in them cutting through my antena or rear window defroster while doing this or leaving a big scratch on my window? Should I just have them re-tint the whole thing?

you remember wether or not they give a warranty? the place i got mine done has a lifetime warranty. So figure that out and if they do just tell them it's crap and it needs to be redone, of course you can reword that however you like ;p and btw they should have known better, the max's dot matrix is dark enough to match your tint, matches mine (20% tint) only tint the glass

Would it look stupid not tinting the dot matrix if I get 5% tint? I know everyone is different but all the cars I have owned have been either 15 or 5%. I like not being able to be seen

I got my tint guy to just put a black piece of vinyl over the dot matrix, it matches with the rest of the windows since I got mine one step lighter than limo in the rear, and pretty light in the front - for law reasons.

some places do vinyl, but ive never seen them just NOT tint it. i think it would kinda odd. the guy who did mine didnt have a problem with it at all. i dont know who he was, but don (pearlmax) hooked me up with him. one piece rear may have had something to do with it. how far r u from nj?

Here's the deal. If your tint film is metallic (the quality life time ones are) and you tint over the dot matrix your radio will not pick up AM signals. I would have them redo the job rather than cut and yes scratch your window. BTW did you know that they lay the film over the outside of the window and cut the film on the glass. Mine got some nice scratches because the razor wasn't sharp. supposedly, if the razor is sharp the glass won't get scratched.

Thats old skool my man, Now many tinters have a cutter called Tek 20/20. you load the roll of film on it, and its conected to a computer that has a database of pretty much every car ever made, and the machine cuts it perfectly to the size of the window.

you think our windows are bad, you should see how tint *tries* to stick to the dot matrix part of Hondas... fuhgettabout it. Mine is tinted, and its fine. I also used a 3M Ceramic tint, so its non metallic, and the color will never fade.

Hey, I live right near you and I'm wondering where you got your windows tinted, how much it cost, and the percentage tint?

Thanks,
Brian

i'm gonna have to go back and have them retint the back window without cutting the old tint. that way i figure i dont stand the risk of them slicing through my antenna or rear window defroster. i just hope they don't think i'm paying for this.
