Replacing 02-03 HID options

I've been looking for a Maxima for too long now, but I'll hopefully be getting a 02 6-speed. I really can't buy one if this HID theft is a serious risk, what, do you think I have that kind of insurance? AFLACK. So, say I just bought the car and I want to get rid of my headlights that have a "steal me" sign on them, what can I do...go to it folks

HID theft is a downside to our beautiful headlights...there is one other option to trade off headlights. Chances are if a thief saw them, they would attempt to rip them off anyways since they have a rather flashy design, so you are stuck between a rock and a hard place...get a security system with a pager?

i had to drive to cohasset to get my baby...6 speeds are hard to find, try coastal nissan in cohasset though, they had a bunch when i went, but theyre a bunch of f*cknuts, dont let them rip you off

i got my 02 6 speed there, too. they are f*cknuts. i'm still driving a rental camry because my HIDs were grabbed almost 3 weeks ago. insurance is a hassle...

jace, your only option is to buy a ford taurus. you won't be so upset when your headlights go missing. in fact, if you're lucky, the badguys will steal whole car, and there will be one less ford taurus on the road.

Don't do anything, and then when you get them stolen the insurance company will have the dealer replace them with 5th gen lights-they can figure out the wiring so you don't have to. How does that sound?

BTW, "I really can't buy one if this HID theft is a serious risk" is a horrible reason not to buy a car, especially a Maxima.

I don't think that's a horrible reason not to buy a car. If I fully understood the risk of HID theft when I was thinking about purchasing my 03 Max, I probably would not have purchased the car for that reason alone. I got hit once and it cost me over $1500 to repair the one side they took. Some people have been hit 4 times or more. I didn't know about the this forum until after I purchased but from now one before buying a car, I will check for similar forums and see what kind of general problems there are.

Sad how one of the most attractive options of the 5.5 gen would lead to discouraging sales a couple of years later. . . .

Correction: It cost me $1000 and my insurance company $500. Whether insurance covers or not, I'd like to be able to park my car and not be paranoid all the time about it.

see, i cant have them stolen even once, thatll kill me cause i cant afford that. I dont want my insurance company to have to do that cause that means higher rates, which has already happened to maxima insurance. I also have a 500 or 1000 deductible, not sure. Point is, i cant afford anything but the reg maintenance and occasional failing part. I also dont want to be limited to where i put my car because its a hot target
