Begin modding

I just landed a new job, looking to start modding my Maxima, I've put in a nice woofer that takes up my trunk so now I'm looking for other things. Anyone have some suggestions? I'm more for gadgets and glamor then I am for performance. I've got a 2000 GLE. I'd perfer cheap, mods then more expensive later on. Perhaps changing interior lighting, gauges, something sharp. Any suggestions? I'm looking to do everything my self with friends so if people know where I can get ahold of picture examples that'd rock.

Thanks!

Hey buddy, welcome to the "ORG" Go to the FAQ & TSB section and you'll get some great ideas! Good luck-most of the folks on here will help you out-just try doing some of your own research first, then if you get stuck, just ask!

Not sure, but from what I've seen, most of us are more into performance mods rather than "gadgets and glamour" , just an observation that I've noticed on here . .

The Maxima is a friggin 4x4 and handles like Jello in stock form, so you must deal with that problem first with Wheels/tires, lowering springs/struts... Then get a strut brace and a sway bar. Everything else is less important.

To many to pick from

I've seen many mods in FAQ. I guess I'll chip away at a few of those. Your right though most of the time people are talking about performance upgrades, however they have done tons of visual upgrades too. Just noone seems to talk about it. I would love to get a DVD/Nav system, they're bad@ss. But I'm to affraid it would get ganked.

Actually I never notice mine anymore. I guess you get used to them and forget about em. The one thing I do notice all the time is my wheels and BBK.

those are hot wheels man
i think the FSB will probably be my next mod. is that difficult to do? i mean do you need to tighten the bolts with a certain amount of pressure or just tighten as hard as you can?

is your grille painted or do you just have a black mesh one? i can't really tell from the pic.

I believe you're referring to the FSTB, front strut tower brace.... all ya do is remove the 3 bolts on each strut tower, stick the FSTB on, bolt the outer 2 first, adjust the nuts on the FSTB to make sure the brackets sit flush and the brackets on the other side fit, and then secure the last bolt and you're done. I don't think these should be that tight... I'm guessing around 40-50 lbs is enough...

IIRC 38 - 42 lbs. is the recommended torque for the FSTB bolts.

what do you need to check the pressure you're applying when tightening the bolts?
