Anyone have Yellow Fogs on their Maximas?

I was thinking about getting 6000K Bulbs over the stock, and putting in nice yellow fog lights, since i dont want to spend 300 bucks getting HID fogs.

Does anyone have a yellow fog light setup on their car?

Yea, i'm running Narva Gold's in my fogs as well.....not as yellow as i wanted them, so i might have to do some modding to the housing as Irish and Chrome did.

I think you are able to see better in rain or snow with yellow fogs. Anyone know where I can get narva golds for a good price?

I have Narva golds and yellow lamin-x, which I think is the "yellowest" combo available without serious modding of the light housing....

by the way, Narva Golds are sold in the USA as "Candlepower Gold" (they are made by Phillips)....

I'd say put in the bulbs first before you decide to add Lamin-X... just to be sure that you don't over-yellow things to your taste... I thought I'd do it too, but after putting in the PIAAs, it was yellow enough for me, so I scratched the idea....

Irish's do look good though... even in the day....

yeah i have a silver car and my friend even said if I had irish's setup, it will look sweet. I decided to go with the yellow fogs and 6000K hid setup because not a lot people have them.

I want that IS 300 Yellow Fog look, but i know i might not be able to achieve it by just adding bulbs. Aren't the IS 300 Fogs lens yellow???

You can get the Narva Gold's from candlepower inc, they're in Rockville, MD. I ordered mine through suvlights.com.
Here is what it pretty much looks like. DDE's with fogs only

I have Neon Yellow Krypton bulbs from Superlumination.com and I love them. And the best part is they are only $3.49 each. Well worth it. I've had them for months now and with my fog light rewire you can reallly see some great yellow.

tamiya x clear yellow. Comes in a tiny jar for about under $3. You have to be "artistically inclined" to use this stuff because one you mess up, you mess up and have to start all over again. You can get it at hobby shops.

I really don't recall where I got them....but go to Lamin-x's website and it'll tell you how much coverage each sheet gives.....

I like the lamin-x for 3 reasons:
1. yellower lilght than bulbs alone
2. protects lens a little bit from cracking, etc. I suppose
3. I like the european look, my cars in Italy always had yellow fog light lenses.

I'd rather have a lens actually MADE of yellow plastic/glass, but since nobody makes them for our fogs, this is the next best thing.

Lexus uses yellow glass covers over the bulbs (inside the actual lens)....a few guys have tried to modify their fogs to use these, but as I recall there was limited success in these efforts.

The lamin-x + candlepowers is not quite as deep yellow as lexus, but fairly close....The other difference of course is that Lexus bulbs are like 100W so they shine brighter.....tough to show actual color in night photos, but here's one of my setup:

The setup does look nice.
When people buy Narva Gold just make sure its not that high of a wattage cause then your lens could either crack or your harness will melt because its only designed to handle 55watts.
Also if there is so much interest in this setup then someone should try to make a group deal on the combo of narva golds plus lamin x yellow, just a thought.

lol nah what i meant by that is that you have to apply it on with a brush so that means getting the paint even is a bi tch. and then to match the deepness of the yellows between the two fogs also come into play.

I just ordered mine through suvlights.com and wrote to lamin-x.com to see if they make a precut for the 00 Maxima. Can't wait!!
I did try the write up for replacing the fogs but the links are all down. Does anyone have a back up?

One more, do we know the size specs on the 00 Max fog lens? Thanks!

Might be a dumb question. So the H3 PIAA Ion Crystals, will be just a direct bulb replacement for the factory foglight bulbs? No concerns of melting wires or housings and such?

Yellow light helps you see better in any condition and helps with fatigue when driving long distances at night. That's why driving and shooting glasses are yellow. It's also why most of the cars in Le Mans and rally use yellow lights.

Yes, direct replacement... I ran PIAA Ion Crystals a few years ago in my SE-R and LOVED them. They were quite yellow and my B14 has the fogs offset outside of the headlights so it looked even more like an IS

However, after they burned out, I wound up spending mucho money trying to find the right replacement. Apparently PIAA changed part numbers so the same part number wasn't as yellow. I tried others but couldn't find the same exact bulb I saved the one bulb that didn't burn out. I recently ordered some PIAA Ion Crystals and, although it's the same part number as the original bulbs that I liked, I'm not sure. I don't have MY car in my possesion but I'm going to install them on my fiancee's Maxima this afternoon and see what it looks like. After seeing Audtatious's picture, I'm not sure if it's yellow enough to go with the HID's. The HID's just drown out the fogs! I may have to get some laminex after this afternoon. Love the way it looks Irish

I just put in PIAA Ion Crystal yellows several weeks ago and its been good so far. They were just plug and play; perfect fit. As long as the wattage is the same as OEM (55W) I doubt you'll see any problems with melting or other things.....

1 Sheet 7 x 16 - Yellow (#1716Y) Lamin-X

Will this be enough to cover 2 fogs? I would like the light as yellow as possible because if I do this I DO NOT want the light to look like cheap stock projection lights...

Sure... just might be a little while

We ran into a few problems on the way to my fiancee's house where I was going to do an oil change and swap the fogs. An F150 decided to rear-end her (real minor... just the tow hook went through the bumper) and someone called to look at and buy the NX. So I'm going to try to do it today (depends... it's cold out there!) but I don't have my camera with me in all the frenzy. I'll try to remember to grab a pic or two on Wednesday. I think someone else posted pics of the PIAA Ion Crystals but I'll take pics as well just in case they look slightly different. You never know!

Yeah I know but for those that are lazy, do you know the dimensions of the OEM fog light housing? Lamin-x wrote back and said they could make and ship it for $14.95 plus $4.95 for 2-3 day shipping. Thanks

So how many sheets are necessary for a very yellow light? I am assuming you may need to use a couple layers on each light for a very yellow light.
