ses question

My ses light recently came on in my 01 AE. I got it diagnosed and found it is 02 sensor -- 2nd bank, 2nd sensor to be exact. I am going on a fairly long road trip with my car in a few days(approximately 1200kms total driving distance), and odds are I won't be able to get the sensor replaced in time for my trip. My question is, would it be ok to take my car on this trip or is it important that I get the sensor replaced before I leave?

I drove with mine on for about 1000 miles until I found out that the code was for the O2 sensor. I'll suggest you wait for a few more responses before you take the trip.

just went though same thing

the p0430 [o2 bank 2] code could be caused buy misfireing coils even with out the misfre code nissian warrenty on emission components is 80k secondly your ecu may need an updated program. as for driving if you are geting misfires raw fuel is geting dumped into your cat[s] witch will cause damage [witch happend in my case the car ran well i did not notice becuse the power loss was gradual when I did the coils noticed big diff bottom line bite the bullet and go see a dealer and see if you need the updated progam [cross your fingers] hope this helps

take the trip. you will have no worries since its a secondary o2 sensor. the only thing it does is monitor the precats. i had P0140 which is a secondary sensor and drove around with no issues for about two weeks with no power loss or loss of mpg. took it into nissan and they replaced both secondary o2 sensors along with an ecu reflash as outlined in the tsb and covered it under warranty.

i had the SES on when i went from brooklyn to knoxville (almost 800 miles each way).
the car is most likely fine, i'm not saying that everything is fine, the sensor might need to be replaced but it as far as the trip is concerned it wont blowup on you. worry not.
