Top Speed in Gears
Ok, ever since I modded my car with a full exhaust (y-pipe, b-pipe, high flo cat) and intake (WAI pop charge), it seems as if my top speeds have changed a bit.
All I noticed was my third gear tops out at 98 MPH. I also just glanced over to see that my 2nd gear tops a little over 60 MPH. The owner's manual says 2nd is around 55 MPH and 3rd is about 88 MPH.
Is my tach or speedo off? I'd like to know. If you have the same mods (or close to) what do you top at?Thanks for the insight.

It's the owners manual, tehy have safety, non performance in mind, and if you mean you have different speeds relative to different RPM's, you're wrong.
Even with differnt tire sizes, your speed/rpm relation will never change, even if your true speed is off due to your tires because the speed/engine rpm are calibrated and will enver change unless you get different gear ratios and swapped them in, or final drive of course too.

if you put more power down with mods/bolt ons, why wouldn't you shift at a higher speed than you did stock?
how do you think cars trap higher speeds at the track? Your rpm ratio will never change unless you change out gears. Your speed in each gear will varying depending on the amount of power you put down.
