I jacked mine up too. I took the wheels off and put them under the car and then rolled under there. I did it in about 30-45 minutes as well. It wasn't real tough, just have to make sure it is in the right place or you will get the banging of your life from the rear end.

You should be able to get Craftsman jack stands at Sears for $20 a pair.... maybe even less if ya can find some generic ones.... its worth the investment esp if you're gonna be doing more work on your car down the road...

I did mine with ramps. Load is not an issue since the rear bushings allow movement of the rear beam anyway.
