Will This Be Your Last Maxima?

Im sure many of you have heard the about consumers reports reliability report and how Nissan Maxima is no longer on it.
Im just curious to know for all you 5gen owners will this be your last gen maxima or will you move up to a 6gen or 7gen when it comes out.

I would have to say that I love the 5th gen max. I would not move up to the 6th gen max. I would move to the 2k5 altima.... just for the 3.5... but eh. I love my 3.0 baby.

man I love sentances starting in "I".

Probably last for me unless the 7th gen Maxima significantly improved from the current 6th gen Maxima. The 3rd-5th generation Maxima were unique in styling and performance when compare to other cars in its class. The 3 main reasons when I decided to purchase of my car were:

1) Uniqueness/controversal styling
2) Bargain performance
3) Better quality in construction (made in Japan)

Yep, this is my last Maxima and probably last Nissan. Love the VQ but not too happy with the rest...

I totally agree with Vmaximus about 3rd-5gen maximas.
Unfortunately since Nissan moved its production to the U.S. quality has been decreasing.
New Maximas dont look as unique.
Toyota and Honda just continue to improve and dominate the market and even though i love my Max i might have to consider other options when it comes time.

Will never get a 6th gen, if I want an Altima i'll go out an buy one for 20grand, and not spend damn near 40 on that hideous 6th gen. This might be my last Maxima, it just depends on what kind of deal I can get on a 2k3, my current job, and how well my business is doing or I might just get an FX45 and go wild with it.

I'd have to pass on the 6th Gen... if I had to, I'd get another 5th Gen... but for now, I'm gonna run my 2k2 into the ground.... someone else raised a good point... quality of Nissans seems to be going down, so I'm gonna wait and see how things pan out... see how the 2k4s and 2k5s are... and then see how they style the 7th Gen....

most likely, next vehicle will definitely be a truck. unless they decide to make upcoming maximas into rwd or awd (which i doubt) and keep the price below $30 grand (which i doubt)...

My last one as well. I really do love this car, but have had so many annoying problems. The 6th gen is a big ugly, and if anything I would go with the Altima SE-R with the maximum possible extended warranty. The max isn't too bad when you only have one kid to haul around, but any more than that would be tough (as it is in any car I guess) so the next car will prob. not be a car at all. Acura MDX or Honda Pilot because I REFUSE to drive a minivan.

i wouldn't mind stepping up a notch to a 5.5 gen. i will probably keep it in the nissan family and someday get a Q45. they have to improve the front end first...way to much like a hyundai

Btw, another point I forgot to mention... I've had no major problems with the car... except for the Bose... but to me that's minor. Based on the quality of MY car in terms of performance and maintenance... I'd get another Nissan, although I'm sure others do not feel the same....

And yeah, Nissan dealerships around here suck. Period.

I think this is my last Maxima, unless Nissan come up with a 7th gen that hit me like a baseball bat in the teeth. I think my next car might just be my dream car a BMW M5, but that wont happend before 2 years, once I'm done with the Maxima modding and the Murano payment.

Cheers

I think that for many of us, this may be the last Max, but I doubt that it will be our last Nissan/Infiniti. I see a lot of people who want to go with the new Altima 3.5 since it has the VQ35, is similar in space to the 5th gen Max, and looks a lot better than the 6th gen Max. I also see a lot of people who want to move up to G35s, M45s, Q45s, etc.

Personally, I don't know if this is my last Max or not. It all depends on where I am moneywise when this Max starts to become an old lady (which is a long way off). If all goes well, I will drive this Maxima until she absolutely dies, and I will spend my extra time and money restoring a 1978 280Z.

I'm not too sure if it would be my last maxima. I know i definitely am keeping her but hopefully we'll see what's the 7th gen pans out. Since the 6th look too similiar to the Altima but an overpriced one and bloated. Whatever happen to a 4DSC, the soul of a sport car but a body of a four door. Sporty and Style apparently the 6th doesn't have that sporty look but styling, seem to really turn off a lot of people since people are flocking to Chrysler to get the 300C, now that's STYLIN'. Now don't flame me, it's a damn good looking Chrysler I ever seen in the longest time.

I love this car but it will be my last and only Max. I will step up to a G35 coupe or E46 330ci. Not really feeling the redesigned 3 series yet, but that may change over time.

Being the ripe old age of 47, my next daily driver will probably be a new Acura TL or RL(05+), or a new Infiniti M45 (05/06+). I love my Maxima, so it's going to be in my garage for a few more years. I absolutely HATE Nissan dealerships and their sh#tty treatment of their customers!!!!!!!!!! That alone will push me into a different brand of car next time around My weekend car will remain my Turbo Supra for many, many years to come

Well for me it depends on what the 7th gen looks like, definetly not feeling the 6th gen. Also I plan on driving this max hopefully for another three or four years,so by then I hope that I can probably afford a m3.

Probably will be the last one for me. None of the other Nissans do anything for me really except the 5th and 5.5 gen Maximas.

Well, the third gen did something for me, too, but the newest third gen is 10 years old at this point.

last one for me too....I dont like the 6th gen and I wont get another front wheel drive car again thats for sure. I am not crazy about the g35 either and I am missing the good feeling of torque from a v8, so my next is probably a Mustang Cobra, Pontia GTO or F150 HD edition with SC.

I like my 5.5gen so much I am gonna keep it for 8-10 years. Only 6-8 years to go and I like it more than when I actually got it. My next plan is to get my wife a car (she wants a sentra/altima 2.5 becuase shes cheap) then save up for a c6 z06 or whatever they are gonna be called. So yeah it will probably be my last maxima.

my daughter is 13, so by the time my 01 (i30) is paid for, it might be a good car for her to have. I might have to buy a used boxter next

I LOVE MY MAXIMA.

Hate 6th gen, looks like a big VW Bug!
Last Nissan too, hate the dealerships. Rather get a Honda or Toyota!

I'll keep my 5.5 gen for at least 8 years. I have no idea what will appeal to me in 2010. I'd like to stay in the Nissan/Infinity family, but it's way to early to tell what they will be like that far down the road.

Unless the significantly change the drivetrain (AWD) I won't buy another Nissan in the near future.

I have my eyes on the Mazdaspeed6 or a Subaru.

I do not own a Maxima.....But with the Ownership of my O2 Altima SE I am confident I will not own another Nissan. The combination of bad service and cheap parts has been more than a mouthful for me to swallow.

Infinity..I will give a shot (even though it is Nissan) Possibly Acura.....
