Better to Rent or Drive my car

Hi,

Is it always better to rent a car (instead of drive your personal one) for longer return trips (about 1,000miles coverage).

the journey would just be for a day - Dec 23 arrive, pick kids, and Dec 24 back on the road..

repeat same Dec 30 - 31.

cheers - Noela

Huh?

Is there room in your car? Take your car.

The depreciation on your car won't add up to what it's going to cost to rent a car for 4 days...if that was 4 days (23/24 and 30/31) and not 9 days (23/31).

Either way it's cheaper to use your car, and you know more about your car's history and service. You have no idea if a rental has been serviced and will break down, leaving you stranded.

That's four days...23, 24, 30, 31.

You're going to pay $200 if it's $50/day.

I would just drive my own. I prefer my car and hate rentals, especially on road trips. I am always pi$$ed after driving a rental a long way. In the end it is up to you and it sounds like you already decided.... So why ask?

I would drive my own. Thats my .02 cents

plus most places, if not all rent american cars, and i wouldnt risk driving one of those for a trip that long.

When my car was in the shop I got to drive a 2000 max gxe and liked getting to try out another max for a week. However I didn't get to choose this situation and would have perfered driving my own 2k1 se anyday. That max had such warped brakes, worse then mine ever were.
