Could This Be The Tranny?????

All,
My 2000 Auto Max w/ 80,000 miles is hurt. After starting it up, I put it in reverse and gave it gas but it didn't move. I tried 1st, 2nd and Drive and it still didn't move. The RPM's won't go past 2K while gas in applied in D, 1st and 2nd and R. But in Park the RPMs can go well above 2K.
There are no check engine/ warning lights on.

What could this be?

Looks like it will have to be towed to the local dealership.

How can I test to see if it's the MAF? I have a K&N cone filter on my intake. But wouldn't a SES light come on for that?

Doesn't sound too much like a MAF as he stated it goes well above 2k rpm in Park, and only hesistates when in gear.

It does sound tranny related, unless you have your foot on the brake pedal.

Update:

I checked the fluids and they are good. I was having some slipping problems prior to now. I pushed it back to the front of the driveway and put it in drive. The car will move forward but not to full 100%. REVERSE does not work at all.

I wonder how much this will be to fix?

Reverse doesn't work = 95% of time tranny's dead (from what I've seen on here).

Tranny, Tranny, Tranny

Sorry to say man, but it sounds 99.99% like the tranny.

Insert your mouthpiece, tap your gloves and keep us posted how the fight with Nissan goes.

I found a local shop that is going to fix the tranny for $1100. He is replacing solenoids, torque converter and the tranny. And his work has a limited warranty. Is this a good deal?
