Way too much fun!
So it was time to rotate the tires and do a routine 4 wheel aligment for my Max, which other than oil changes has been the biggest expense so far. So I take the car to one of those neighborhood tire places so I don't have to pay the crazy dealer prices for these services. The guy doing the alingment for my car takes it for a "test drive". Out of curiosity I go outside of the store to see what he is doing, only to see my car flying by. He comes back and says to me "WOW...that car is fast!"...and starts asking me all sorts of questions about the car. Before the work was done he had done two more "test drives", I was wondering if they were absolutely necessary, but the guy seemed to be having a blast so I let him, and it return I learned a thing or two about 4 wheel computer aligments.
Another mortal won over by the Maxima.

That would **** me off to high heaven...I would have immediately told him to give me my keys and left, what if he got in an accident? What if you left your car there for the day? It could have been something out of Ferris Bueller's day off...
A 4-wheel alignment on a 4th or 5th gen really isn't necessary. The beam axle prevents too much motion in the rear, so if you're paying extra for it, you're paying too much.
Heh... don't forget... that up to 12k miles, you can have your dealer do it for free... (alignment)...

Correct, the rear wheels don't get alined by are still get hooked up to the computer as a point of reference I guess.
The mechanic was a nice guy and I was seeing exactly what he was doing with the car...he was driving on the street right infront of the shop. As far as what he was doing inside the car I dunno because I have tinted windows. Again, no harm done!.
Tom,
It's news to me, I have less that 12K miles and my Nissan dealer wanted to charge me for alignment.

Actually, it's not stated specifically anywhere (ie. it doesn't SAY that you are entitled to a free alignment in the warentee booklet)... BUT I heard it on this board a while back, and decided to investigate...
When i brought the issue up to my Service Rep down at the dealer, he acted completely confused.. after a few minutes of talking, however, he conceded that Nissan will pay him for any single adjustment he makes to the car under 12k miles, which WOULD include an alignment.... (Caveat... ONLY ONE adjustment).... So either the next service 9k miles, or the one after that, I'm going to "complain" about my alignment, just to have them check it out / adjust it for free...
Regardless, I doubt that you could get them to pay you for it AFTER you had it done somewhere else...

I tried for a warranty alignment and they started by cross rotating my tires.. then the pull switched... its probably due to the lovely toyos on the car. Now that I've dropped my car I need to get an alignment but I wanna wait untill I put in shocks too.

TSK TSK TSK!You will be surprised how well they perform after you got the alignment done without the new shocks install!

Just out of curiousity, does it get really hot in your Max since it's black?
