Any issues with 19'' wheels on maxima?

Besides speedometer accuracy, anything else come to mind? What's an ideal tire size? Anybody have pics?

Thanks, T

The only issue I had , is I couldn't keep people from complimenting my car.....I was running 245/35 Nitto 555's. Never had rubbing , even with 5 people in the car. My friend Cwally had 19's also , no rubbing. I was running Teins springs too....

The only issue I had with 19's is a rougher ride. As long as you go with a 25 profile tire, you shouldn't have speedo problems. But I went back to stock rims and man the ride is so much smoother. I'll never go with big rims again.

They look nice, but the ride is just to harsh for me, even with stock suspension.

i have 18s for summer, with a 40 series tire, there is a huge diiffenece in ride comfort, as for 19s i imagine its that much worse.

Though they look good...they are expensive and a tire/rim easily f**ked up by bad roads. The roads of boston and NYC cracked 1 rim, dented another bad enough it needs to be repaired and took out a month old tire on me so far.

also Ryans maxima,
that pic is awsome, i want that spoiler for my car

IMHO the car is just not made to be used w/anything over 17". From personal experience, I did not like how the car handled on 18"s, 19"s is going to be much worse.

I have not enjoyed the ride in any Maxima running larger than stock sized wheels

19" are the only way to go if the roads in your area are good. I love my 19" and wouldn't go with anything smaller for this car.

The only issues are that potholes, etc. are magnified with smaller profile tires.

pretty much if your modding your car for handling dont go 19....if your doing it for looks then yeah 19s are fine, even with the biggest drop tein s.....235-35-19 tires for me. nothing has happend, what state/city are you from....ask someone in the same area....everyone else is just replying from theirs....as am I....CA here, not too bad in terms of roads. so i say the ride is ok...this is coming from a GLE owner (even better ride than the SE owners) so yeah take advice from people in your area, you'll get a much better idea of YOUR daily driving comfort.

No problems here and I have 245/40's. Just be careful of big potholes if you have any in your area.

if u go with 19's get some type of adjustable strut
koni, kyb, tokico, the ride is a bit harsh but ya just
cant beat the look of 19's on a 5th gen, was thinking
of going with a 40 series tire on my next set, anybody
do that is the ride better

oh boy......no matter how harsh any road is, nothing is compared to NY roads, specially in Queens, brooklyn, bronx and manhattan, gets to a point where u gotta ride on the small pothole in order to dodge the big ones....

19's will be a harder ride, compared to any 17" setup. However, that is why I went with H&R springs and Illumina shocks. The H&R's are smooth riding, very comfortable. Combined with the adjustable Illumina's, I've been able to dial in the comfort level to the way I like it!! The best of both worlds............tight, instant steering response from short sidewall tires, combined with a very solid, sporty, forgiving and compliant spring/shock setup!! The ride is not harsh at all. As a matter of fact, it is significantly better than the stock setup in virtually any way you compare it.

Hey G-STYLE02MAX, you've got the same Falken Torque 5's that I've got!! Looking good!!

19's aren't bad with a GLE or GXE suspension, if you have a SE then it's gonna ride pretty rough. I have a 00' GXE with 19x8.5's with 245/35's and it's fine.. No rubbing.. I wouldn't go with anything smaller in width than a 245 or they'll be super stretched to fit on the rim if you go with a 8.5" or wider. I'm running a .35 offset as well.

19's may offer a rough ride but I think 19's look like just the right size for a 5th gen.

Iv'e seen plenty of Maxxes. 19's look perfect. If you have Illuminas, or some sort of adjustable shock or coilovers, you will be fine. Unless you live in a place like NY metro, where the streets have potholes you can live in......go big ! It dramatically changes the look of the car. My car handled great. I pushed that sucker to the limits on turns, and it held it's ground for being a sedan. redmax2nv put it best !

No issues here with 19" other than changing them out in the next couple of weeks before the snow/ice comes.

i have 19x8.5's and didnt have any rub or shake, with 245/35 tires. just took them off for the winter, gotta say the factor ride is crazily smoother, but its cause i have mine lowered 1.6" on top of the rims, but besides a harsh ride i dont have any problems with my rims

Wow, thanks for all the responses. I live in So Cal and I'm going to get the Illuminas and Eibach springs shortly. What's the best tire size on 19's for smoothness?

You can't go wrong with 19's. I have 245/35-19 tires. This is probably the most common size you'll see on folks with 19" rims.

sweeet so cal!! yeah!! lol well the only size you can get is 35....that leads to a .6 differance on your speedometer. if you go 40 then it will be off by more, go to the tire/wheel section and enter in your numbers, they will tell you how off your speedometer will be off by. I myself would like to go to 40 for a better ride. but i'd rather be safe with speed especially with camping cops. what city are you in man?

Nope I'm not sponsored by them. I just sent them a pic of the max and they put it on there website.

I agree with the others who said that it would be ideal to have adjustable shocks if you're going with 19's. That way you can adjust the stiffness/ride quality somewhat to your liking.
