Re: Front Strut Tower Braces
Do all strut bars perform the same? Are such products perform better than others... I couldn't find this on the FAQ for the 5th gen.
From knowledge from the 4th gen forums I believe that all the strut bars perform the same.
Now I'm curious about the 5th gen ones... even the cheap ones on ebay that are sold for like 25$ shipped...
Thanx

There are tons of threads on this subject. Just scroll through some previous pages to find out.

Some think it's different... some people think it's the same...

Seriously... if you bent your FSTB driving.... I think you may have other issues with the car more severe than the FSTB being crappy... haha.... unless of course its problems with the brackets, bolts, etc.... which I know other people have had problems with....

no... i had a hard time isntalling it.. but i got it to fit.. but then after a week fo driving the bolts keep coming looose so the bar falls down ontot he maniofold causing it to scratch the manifold.. i try to fix it and retighten it.. but it always loosens.. there's not much clearence between the bar and the manifold also so it makes me thing it was for a 2000-2001 not 2k2-2k3

Anyways... here's how "low" my FSTB is... btw, it looks like its touching the manifold but its not...

There are different ends on the strut bars on e-bay. I was wondering if there is a difference at all.. if one is better for the car or not.. I see the ones that are shaped like a C and shaped like an O.. (the part where it's bolt on).. not sure if it matters.... but the picture above has an O... not sure which ebay vendor I should go to.. thanx!

The clamps do not matter. Persoanlly i had an otto one from ebay on my 2000. Its just got a shiny finsih to it that will wear away from the heat of ur engine and the dirt will embend into it. My next one was from cattman. Buddy. This thing is a whole heck of a lot lighter. and looks a lot better IMO. The only problem some people had with strut bars is that on the 3.5L the FSTB could possibly hit the intake manifold. I know the cattman does not do this.
