Car would not crank over at ALL last night??

Car would not crank over at ALL last night??
SO ...last night after leaving my girdfriends house, i went to start my car and NOTHING......the battery was fine because all my electric crap was working
the engine wouldnt even crank at ALL... i could hear the fuel pump turn on
other than that nothing
after about 15 to 20 minutes of wondering WTF is going on..... i put the car in neutral and it finally cranked over and then started..
anyone have any ideas wtf was going on.... i dont want to get stranded in a public and have to end up leaving my car overnight somewhere

Park/neutral safety switch. Located on either shifter or transmission somewhere
Won't let you start the engine if the car is not in Park or Neutral, or Neutral on a MT.
Sometimes it goes out entirely and you can't start the car at all. Sometimes, just Park, or Neutral, will go out.

thats what i was about to say...just make sure you are all the way in park...or just try neutral if it doesnt work.
