2000 MT brief hesitation at 3300 RPM
I have a 2000 with a 5 speed that I enjoy but it has one annoying charactoristic. I'd hesitate to call it a problem but wonder if anyone knows the cause.
On moderate to heavy acceloration in 2nd or 3rd gear there's a 'pause' at about 3300 RPM and again at about 3800 RPM. It feels like I briefly took my foot off the gas but I didn't.
The car has 65,000 miles. Nissan reprogrammed the module when I took it in for a free replacement of my cat when the 'check engine' light came on and it proved to be bad. It's the only part left under warrantee so I felt like I scored.
I don't recall if I had the problem before the reprogramming about 6 months ago but don't think that I did. Any suggestions?

I've seen this too recently. Mainly under heavy acceleration. I always thought it was pinging of some sort...
It's not VIAS, I have a perfectly working VIAS control box in there right now.

I had that problem too. I put in new coils and it was more responsive but still hesitated some. A new MAF made the throttle all the more responsive and got rid of the hesitation. I don't know enough to say for sure, but it sounds like another MAF issue...

I had a similar symptoms for a while with hesitation at 3100rpm's and the car would stall when I depressed the clutch at high rpms and let the engine try to return to idle. Changing the PCV valve solved my problem. Its not hard to do and its a cheap part, so its worth a try.
