Car Bra Suggestions

I know a lot of people do not like them but I have what seems like hundreds of rock chips on my bumper and hood. The easiest(and cheapest) was to cover it up is with a car bra. Courtesy Nissan has one that looks good. Does anyone have a picture of a car bra on a sterling mist? Anyways I can't afford to repaint so I won't mind having one until i can...Courtesy has a picture of one @ http://www.courtesyparts.com/popup/p..._nosemask.html

trust i know that rock chips suck. but a bra will mess the front end up more. dirt gets trapped in there then gets rubbed around. if you wanna know what it would look like go rub the front with sand paper

Basically the thought process went like this:

Looks best - car with no bra. But, it will only look best for about 2k miles, after which it will start looking like crap

Looks next best - car with clear bra. You can only see mine when either a) you're within a few feet, or b) if it's raining and/or you catch it from the right angle. Otherwise it's invisible, and in the 12k miles since installation I have ONE rock chip that got through the bra (I did the hood only).

Next best - clearly visible black bra. Hey, some cars look okay with bras, and it's only my opinion. But the choice to me was 'always in sight', or 'only visible 5% of the time'...

BTW, would recommend the fog light covers too (same material, just thicker). Both of my fog lights are now cracked.

I have bras on both of my Maximas, and they work for me. I like the look once I have washed the cars and armor-alled the bras... Plus I live in Midlithian, which happens to be the Concrete Capital of Texas so I am always in the eye of a concrete storm.

I had one on my Merlot max. Looked OK, but left a line on the hood that I couldn't buff out. The bra is a lot cheaper than new paint! I got one to hide my chips as well.

Highly recommend a clear bra. I haven't a single chip after around 1 year of use. How-to and pics on my site.

A clear bra would be nice to have if my front end was not so chipped. I don't mind the hassle of taking it off everytime it rains etc...and the courtesy bra is only 99, and the clear bra is 260 but that was after a 10% discount i doubt they are offering anymore. thanks for all the replies.

The best cloth bra is one from Colgan Custom. They invented the car bra to begin with, and they have the best warranty.

You could buy for just the hood or the complete package. You can get matching mirror covers too. And you can also get it in a carbon fiber look.

Good stuff.

Peace.

The only drawback with my bras are that after removing/replacing to wash the car, the stretchy things that are used to secure them, lose their stretchiness, and the bra saggs a little and makes it look like I have B **** in a D bra... I might have to buy a new one.

I went with bumper bra and then wind deflector up top. My car was in an accedent some time ago so things dont line up exactly perfect anymore, so I didnt fee llike waisting the $ on a clear bra when I knew I was going to get another car eventually.

Hood, bumper back to the front wheels, & a few inches behind the headlights.

It ain't victoria's secret....

I have the identical Courtesy bra, but got it somewhere else.
Same price, 5 year warranty.

Had it two years now. I like it.

I take it off everytime I wash the car, and just hose it down.
You're not supposed to WASH these things.

Have to admit, I have scratched my hood accidentally while trying to pry leaves out (yes, leaves -- the paint is THAT delicate!) from under the hood-lip. But in general, this thing does it's job pretty good.
I still get the occasional chip in the hood, but that's just life in the ATL.

I have only had two occaisions where I left the bra on too long (usually in the winter) when it rained for days and the paint got hazy underneath.
This is easily remedied by leaving the affected parts (plastic) in direct sunlight for a few hours, and it goes away.

Admittedly - I'd go with the Clear Bra if it was cheaper, and I thought i could do a decent job of self-application. I also figured a THICKER barrier would ward-away the heavier rocks and objects (dents).

The regular bra won-out....I'm happy.
