in-cabin filter

looked at the directions that came with my filter and also those provided by "housecor".......anyway, i'm confused.......these directions contradict themselves or leave out important steps.........can anyone help with detailed step by step directions.........i'm particularly confused on how to remove the "lower glove box liner"..........what is that!

take out the glove box by removing all the screws holding it (I think there are 6) including the ones holding the top latch, and disconnect the glove box light. After pulling that out, the filter is in a small frame that slides out from the box in front of you. Should take about 15 minutes

I've never seen a two filter set-up.

1. Take out all screwes holding glove box. DONT DROP IT!
2. On the top side of the glovebox, there is a little flipper door thingy with two clips sticking thru it. You have to take needle noze pliars and squeese those clips and push them behind the glovebox. THIS AIRBAG HARNES CONNECTOR. DO NOT UNPLUG IT AND DONT DROP THE GLOVEBOX WITHOUT UNCLIPPING IT.
3. Unclip the glovebox light
4. Pull away the glove box. you will have to pry out the molding by the door a little bit.
5. Take bottom metal clip off of the filter.
6. Take filter out.
7 Place bottom portion of a 2 part filter and then slide the top portion
8. replace the metal clip.
9 Put back the glove box and connect the Airbag harness and light.

Another set of directions is here:

http://www.greghome.com/Greg's%20Garage/2002MaxSE/In-Cabin%20Microfilter%20Change.htm

I just did this afternoon and had no problems (even found a bar-code sticker that was peeling off underneath and making noise against the plastic every time I pulled into a driveway or went over a bump - taped it over and no more noise).

the replacement filter is 2 parts. just stack them one on top of the other.
yea and the most important is the airbag plug do not unplug it or tug to much on it.
