Helical slip on 2002/2003 6 speed

Hi All,

Is there any way I can tell if a 6-speed 02,03 maxima has the Helical limited slip. By the VIN number maybe or any other way. It was option that was offered at the time the car was being sold.

Look at the engine code (located on the firewall on a metal plate) - if it ends in "A" you have an open differential. If it ends in "H" you have HLSD.

...and ignore all advice to "look at the pedals."

Yes, HLSD came with different pedals, but they cost $30 and a lot of people like the look so they swap them out.

Oh yes, I did forget about the pedals. The HLSD model maximas have the "drilled metal pedals" although the break and clutch are more of a drilled metal look but they are really black rubber inserts on brushed metal. But like 2k2kev said, those can be easily added and the best way to tell would be to look at the engine code.

It's in the transmission code not the engine code.
