i am about to buy a 02 maxima...i have been asking for org members opinions on if some of the cars i am looking at are good deals are not. anyway...i found a 02 blue maxima..no sunroof, no leather with 67,000 miles on it for 10,500. but...on the car fax report it says the car recently failed its emissions test. the carfax report says that this could mean there is something wrong with the engine. my question is...is the emissions like the inspection on a car...you can fail for something really stupid like your windshield whipers being warn down to much? or is the failed emissions a big deal. i dont even know if this is a good deal or not..i could prolly talk the guy down to 10,000....bu tthis car is the only one in dallas priced reasonably compared to what you org members have been telling. every maxima in dallas seems to be priced 5,000 dollars over what you all paid. anyway...should i take a look at this car?

I paid more than that for my car with similar milage and it's an 02. Just bring up the emision thing to the guy selling the car. Does he have anything done to the car or is it still all stock. That could cause something to fail emissions. Just find out what he failed for. Otherwise the price isn't bad.

i think emisson related problems are covered under warranty up to 80,000 miles....
