I am having my Nissan Dealer install the Stillen FSTB on my AE2K1 and was curious as to how long it should take? I figured I shouldn't be charged for more than 30mins. Feedback from people who have installed it or had it installed would be cool! Any ideas of install times for a Stillen Rear Sway bar as well?

PS There was a post about comparing a 740 to the new Q45. 740 is a tank and a 5pd AE should beat it with good driving skills I know since I've done it. Now imagine a 340HP Q45?? Damn the 740 would get rocked! Big deal the 740 is lil more refined look at the price!! The 740 is getting tired while the Q45 is not as pretentious and got the power to back it up plus original features not found in other rides.

Do you have hands?

If so you can install it yourself. It's the easiest mod to install. It only took me 20 minutes and I spent 10 looking for the right socket. Why would you pay someone to do that? I can understand if you didn't have any tools, but it's so easy to put on...

The FSTB is mad easy to install. Took like 10 minutes....Save your money and do it yourself. All you need is a 14 mm socket and a wrench. Then, go borrow a torque wrench to make sure the bolts are tight enough.

The rsb is a little trickier, you have to get under your car which can be difficult. I;m surprised your dealer agreed to put it on, I thought they didn't like add-ons...

RSB should be quick if they use a lift... I'd say again, more than 30 minutes and they're over charging.

Hey, he is Canadian, he has better things to do with his time than spend it installinf a FSTB, like enjoy the sun.

Not to mention it's not all of us that have a torque wrench. Too boot, if the dealer installs it and something goes wrong, it's thier fault.

Way to go, eh!

Ya I am a proud Canadian for sure eh! The service manager at my dealership is really cool so he has no problems putting on add-on stuff especially Stillen. I figure i pay a couple of bucks for them to put it on and now I have an offical Nissan dealership service invoice just in case. I have no problem paying for one hour of labour to have a FSTB and RSB put on my AE. I do have hands but no torque wrench, lift, and time to make any mistakes. Thanks for your help guys! I want to lower it too but living in Canada (Ottawa) we have crazy winters and would end up being a snow plow. One other thing I keep reading about here is the K&N issue. Bottomline will it increase performance or not with just the simple drop in K&N. If it does it would be the absolute best bang for the buck ($50US) for a 4HP increase...what do u guys think?

You will definitely feel the K&N if you do the OSCAI mod....

Hey PhatGuy, which Ottawa dealer is doing this work (East, West or Centre)?

I've been in once for service but my dealer in the West, while offering good service, doesn't seem be the type to go for mods.

They didn't know anything about the missing part over the fuel lines. Have you been able to get a local dealer to repair that problem? It wasn't as noticeable in the winter but now that we almost have spring, the fuel filler area collects more dirt than I care to have get into my engine.

There is no missing part over the fuel line on a 2001 Max. Nissan took that part off on purpose since the part in question was causing problems with the 2K. Dirt and crap gets built up under it and is very hard to clean underneath the part. Yes dirt will show up around the gas cap area door which comes up through that little drain hole. When you wash you car just use water to clean that area and the drain hole. Nissan will put that part on for you but they recommend you don't. If your dealer knows nothing about it then they should just make a call to Nissan to confirm.

Thanks.

Based on some other threads, it seems like lots of our American friends are getting that part on their 2001s. An effective part is on the 4th gen and frankly every other car on the road save Nissans. Maybe they need to design a better covering if the 2k model doesn't do the job.

Cleaning it out is not really an viable option. I often fill up between washes and the dirt accumulates within a few hours of driving - not to mention the problems of trying to clean there in sub zero weather.

I am considering plugging those drain holes and then I only have to deal with cleaning away any water that accumulates in the filler area.

see ya.
