...and car is running like new! I just hit it on the way back to Norman from D/FW and look forward to putting another 150k on it.

On a side note, I am pumped that I got a little more than 30mpg on the way back tonight....one of the reasons I got the Max awhile back.

 

how fast were you going to get 30 mpg? I have the same 01 AE auto and I just took a trip from Houston to Austin and I probably averaged about 22-23 mpg going about 85 the whole way. Even on my trips from Houston to DFW the most I think I've averaged was like 26mpg.

 

I was on cruise for about 80 percent of the 180 mile trip at 75mph.....or about 2600 rpms, which is what I look at more when trying to get better gas mileage.
I don't think I ever got above 80 due to the fact that I hate pushing it on I35 in the dark.

Also, consider that I had a pretty strong tailwind as well which definitely contributed to the great mileage.

 

My 2k2 had 85k when it was wrecked.......it was strong as ever..
