How many miles do you get per tank of gas?
I have an auto and never usually let my tank go too low, but i seem to make about 200 miles by the time i reach a half tank using mobil gas 93 octain. i've gone below that when i drive extra hard of course, and have had even better gas mileage when i followed my parents driving up north, so since i was at the speedlimit just cruising, i'd say i made 15 more miles each quarter tank. but normally i get 200 out of a half tank driving faster than most, but most of my driving is highway as i commute to school.
oh yeah

Wow, didn't realize I got such bad gas mileage, about 250 per tank, about 50/50. I usually fill up between 1/4 and 1/8 of a tank. I usually travel between 80-100 on the highway, so I guess thats a huge factor. I put it in neutral at long red lights ect., but apparently its not helping.
It can be done. Generally the only place I push the car is at the drag strip. I rarely go above 3k rpm and I skip shift 1->3->5->6. If I am not on the highway my rpms hang around 1500-1800. When I am on the highway I only go above 65 when I am in a hurry and I usually give myself plenty of time to get places (except work in the morning). I launch and accelerate smoothly and at a moderate pace. My city driving is not exactly stop and go either. I always coast to a red light and usually never accelerate more than necessary. I always use 92/93 octane and keep my tires at 35psi all around. I always keep my car cleaned out of any unnecessary crap that could weigh it down. The GAB and the catback also help the engine breathe a little easier. Could be closer to 80% highway. The mpg display says 33.1 currently and the last mpg check I did by miles/gallon using the same pump I got 30.05mpg.
this is interesting.. cuz i drove the car wit the gas light still on.. the DTE went blank.. i drove about 305 since last fill up.. i dont get on the throttle as much.. changing at 3k or so.. the avg mpg is saying that its 24.5 @ 31mph.. now the weird thing is.. i filled up 15.5 gallons when the light came on last.. so wheres my 3 gallons at? when the gas light comes on.. the dte is blinking at 38 miles to go.. whats up wit that? when the car is filled.. it says dte is 330.. i think that sux ***.. should i jus drive wit the light on for a while more? ive had the car for 2 weeks now.. ive filled it up twice both when the light comes on.. fill it 15.5 gallons.. so its pretty much constant.. wat should i do? im usually on the beltway.. prolly 70-80% of the time..
ive gotten i think 380 to a tank with 90% hwy....while runnin with a few cars
i usually get like 250-275 with almost all city driving
i try to fill up just before the gas light comes on. so 14-15 gallons

500-520 when doing highway 80MPH all the time, most of the time I hit like 400 miles on 60% highway driving with some spirited driving. I rarelly fill up all the way, car feels much slower so I tend to keep her low on gas unless I'm gonna drive somewhere far.

It can. The tank is actually 18.5. With 551 miles/tank its only 29.78mpg. There are a lot of factors that effect mileage and there are plenty of 4 cylinders that get way worse mileage than the 5.5gen maxima. When going on a trip from Akron, OH to Columbus, OH (~150mi) I tripped the mpg guage on the highway and when I got off the outer belt in Columbus it read 37.6mpg and I was traveling at a constant speed of 70mph.

5,000 miles 'cause I took out my back seat to hold 150 gallons of premium at $2.50 a gallon.
Seriously, are all 5th gen tanks the same size: 17.1 gallons? I get about 390 miles out of mine. I usually fill 'er up with 15 gallons. Doing the math, I get 26 mpg, and I drive hard.

The question was
"How many miles do you get per tank of gas?"
not
"How many miles do you get with the useable gas in your tank?"
The way I came up with my numbers was using my calculated mpg and multiplying it by 18.5 (a full tank of gas) and giving a small negative fudge factor. Other peopel are probably using their DTE when they just fill up. I doubt the person that claimed 551 miles or 541 miles or whatever filled up their tank and then ran it until it stalled.

5spd. 300-315miles/14.8-15.2 gallons all city. 330-350miles/15-16 gallons city and highway. 380-400miles/16-16.8 gallons all highway
the 5spd gearing is not as beneficial on the highway as autos (80mph @ 3300 rpm vs. 80 mph @ 2700 rpm)
