Rear marker light

Hi, I hope this is the right place to ask this question, if not please direct me to the correct forum.

I would like to change a bulb on the passenger-side rear marker light, but it seems that I must remove the bumper? Or at least detach the right side of the bumper.

Any ideas or previous experience?

2000 Maxima SE

Thanks

i assume you are talking about the bulb underneath the red reflective cover? all you need is a flat head screwdriver, a thin rag and a new 194 bulb. just push the flat head covered with the thin rag (to keep from scratching the paint or the cover) under the corner closest to the rear bumper. once one corner is out, you can pull the end and the clip will release. then turn counterclock wise on the socket and replace the bulb. make sure to put the corner that you did not put the screwdriver on first then push with you hand on the side you used the screwdriver on.

Thanks a bunch for your help. One last question. Do I have to apply a lot of pressure, or should it pop out fairly easy?

Thanks

it should not take much force at all. just make sure you get a good lip of the screwdriver behind the cover or its going to hit the end and most likely crack it.

Yeah... it should pop out easily once ya stick the screwdriver in.... no prying necessary... at least that's how it is for me.... just make sure you insert it on the correct side of the marker as per Sloppy's instructions....

Actually I think you can also find directions for this in your owner's manual....

you need to put a little elbow grease to remove it. you may think you are about to break it with the amount of pressure you use but you shouldn't destroy it if you follow the directions in your owners manual.
