1994 Maxima
1994 Maxima
Hello,
I have a 1994 Maxima/3.0 Liter Automatic with 212,000 miles. I was leaving work on Friday and started the car like normal. It started ok but when I put the car in Reverse, it died. When I got the car on the highway, it ran fine. And continues to run fine after the car has been driven for a short period of time. It only does this after it has been sitting for more than 8 hours or so. I thought that it may have been the fuel filter so I changed it but that didn't effect the way the car acted this morning. Have any of you heard of this? It will also die when the car goes into drive, or any other gear besides Park/Neutral.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

This should probably be in the 2/3 Gen forum but since you posted it here I will offer a suggestion of checking the throttle position sensor and/or idle air control solenoid/valve. You'll probably have much better luck posting in 2nd/3rd gen.
