Rusty rotors, what to do?

Forgive me if this has been addressed before. 2 weeks ago I installed new Brembo blank rotors and Bendix pads (this is the family ride) on my wifes 2000 SE and all went well. But now after some good wet weather they are rusty (ugly ugly orange) everywhere the pads do not contact. Is this normal? Is there anything that can be applied to the non-contact surfaces to prevent this? You guys are the gurus so this is why I came to you. Thanks!

Well I have the same rotors and actually have had them on for about two weeks as well, and mine haven't rusted any. It rained for three days straight too.

could actual conditions like humidity and temp have something to do with it. you can treat the rusted parts with motor oil or even paint them just so long as you have no contact at all and contact point you will be cool

how are they paintable? Was thinking if i could paint them black acautlly so i wouldnt have to see the rusty old things. But I would think this is not good for your brakes, etc.

Yes, humidity and temp have an effect, but PLEASE don't suggest anyone ever put motor oil on rotors............

That's debatable...you're suggesting someone put a lubricant on his brakes. What are we supposed to think?

The rust is I am talking about is on the hubs. Are these paintable with a non-corrosive / high temperature paint? I bought them from Import Replacement Parts (importrp.com). I got a good deal, $160 for the 4 (includes shipping), I just want to make sure I didn't get the jick jack. Do any of you guys have Brembo blanks that the hubs have visibly rusted?

Gold Zinc plate them. But the rust is normal.

Why would you go through the time to lube them super sparingly around the edges w/ motor oil just because of a little rust? These are brakes. . .no lube on brakes please.

I think I saw a thread were the poster painted the hub on his rotors black, so to answer your question yes it can be done.
