00 5Speed Not as fast as it should be??

My friend test drove a 00 5 speed with me and we both felt his 96 5 speed is signifianctly faster.

i found this TSB on studman's site but was wondering if there could be antyhign else for the lack of power that we are experiencing?

no....soemthing is wrong with the one u test drove.....and did u drive it right??? 4th gens are lighter with lighter rims. esp since the 95-96 max are the lightest maximas ever made. NO but a stock 4th gen vs stock 5th gen is 5th is faster. Espically if u can drive it right.

^^ that's what i thought but the seller is on his 3rd maxima (all manual) and always repairs thru the dealer and the mechanic.

i wanna buy the car, and i expect a few things wrong with it, but dont wanna have to deal with anything major

I got whopped by a SVT Contour cause my MAF was bad and due to heavy wheels, I felt really stupid then. Now the same Countour can't touch it, runs like a champ.

It depends. 4th gens are faster of the line and possibly 1/4 mile because of the weight and rims. Once you hit top end the 5th gen should pull on the 4th. Some lightweight rims should be one of the first mods for a 5th gen IMO. The MAF seems like it could be the problem. There should definitely be more power in the 5th and a lot more up top.
