I don't feel any major differences between the old and new stuff.

But you do feel a diffrence, it's just not a major diffrence. Where is the TCM and how long did your installation take? I take it by the photos that you have installed three TCMs in your car?

I would say slight difference. I notice the shift point is a bit higher now, around 6300 sometimes, but maybe it might be my imagination.

Only one TCM. Three pictures were taken to give you a good idea of where the TCM is located. To make life easier, we took off the vents, head unit, and climate control... the TCM is behind there.

Why did you buy a TCM? I ask not to be stupid but I would of thought that if your transmission is slipping you would have taken it to the dealer even though Nissan's service is bad. I saw a thread and I think it was you who said that you bought a new TCM and soneloid but I forget why. How long did it take you to do all that and was it difficult?

Kev: nice pics....you probably don't feel a huge difference because you already had the VB recalibrated. The tranny seems to hold in gear longer with the new stuff as you mentioned.

what is this secret ingredient Turbo95Max is talking about

Your arm does look kind of pale, Mattel the Toy Maker...

I bought the TCM and solenoid because I have the valvebody recalibration. Jane and Matthel were afraid that they might swap valvebodies instead of just the solenoid if they got really lazy.

Secret ingredient?!?!?! It won't be a secret if I told you, will it? We were going to recalibrate the already recalibrated valvebody to make it shift harder and firmer than it already is.

**sigh** Kev and those blacklights. I think he is going insane....
My car doesn't shift as hard as Jane's, so I'm going to make it shift as hard (probably harder) than her car.

Nope, those aren't blacklights... those are under the seat.

Now you can change your own TCM if need be.

We tried getting to it by only removing the lower center console piece (it's the one around the shifter/hazard lights/ash tray). Stuff got in the way so we decided to take the whole thing off. Made life much easier.

How long did it take for you to get the TCM and solenoid when you ordered and how much was it again?

The solenoid was on backorder so it took a week... so it took a week and a few days.

Total should be about $600 +/- change.

How do you recalibrate a recalibration? Where are you getting your information from? Is it a super secret?

I watched Don in Texas recalibrate my VB... so I can duplicate the process if necessary.

Nice pics Kev. I have had my whole console and center console out too. The first time you do it takes a lot longer. Subsequent removals are very fast.

Have you run down the 1/4 yet? I'm going tomorrow. We'll see what this new solenoid does.

Thanks Paul. I haven't run any 1/4 with the G-Tech recently (last one I ran was with Stillen SI, muffler, and VB). Sadly, I can't make it to Sears Point on Wednesday nights because it takes forever to get across the Bay Bridge during rush hour.

Have fun at the runs and keep us updated on how the new solenoid goes.

Good luck at the track and let us know how the OSCAI and new shift solenoids help out....

Yes, I want to make it shift really fast (without pulling the sensor). Did you install a tranny cooler?

Low Blow: At least it's not like YJs tranny.
Pulling that sensor doesn't help at WOT.
It has to flow more to shift hard....LOL...sorry.
Enjoy having neck snapping shifts.

Ohhh... doh!

I have no idea why his tranny went out so quick. Level 10 doesn't do crappy jobs on rebuilds. I remember him saying he was going to send it to L10, but later he mentioned about the car being ready to be picked up (which made me think it was a local job).

When you did your VB recal, did Level 10 provide you with instructions? I'd like to see what the difference is between theirs and Don's. Maybe combining both techniques if possible.

I talked to him last night. First off, the shop did the level 10 rebuild... or at least they claimed to. He said when he took it back they claimed to have forgotten to hook up some sensor and didn't properly connect the reverse gear(s)...? He also has to wait for everyone who's car is ahead of him to get his junk done... how lame is that.

Which shop? Level 10 or a local shop?

A sensor to hook up the reverse gear?

I am very surprised Nissan did a crappy install.

Hook up the reverse gear? If reverse wasn't hooked up, then 1, 2, D, N, and P wouldn't have been hooked up. The shift linkage in the VB controls all that IIRC... so

Yup, I agree. I also believe YJ should've gotten a Service Engine Soon light if a sensor wasn't hooked up properly.

All that work on the tranny and down the drain it goes. Thanks for the insight on the tranny rebuild. I know it I ever rebuild my tranny, I'm going to buy the parts from Level 10 and do it with some NorCal peeps. It's going to be a big project, but hopefully we'll get some practice doing Jane's tranny first.

Hey YJ, what Nissan dealer did you go to? Maybe you should go back and them.
