In-Car Handsfree/Speaker Cellphone Kits
Hi everyone! I just picked up a 2001 Maxima SE Anniversary Edition 5-Spd (Dark Blue w/Black leather Interior), and I'm absolutely thrilled with it.
I'd like to hear some opinions on in-car kits for cell phones. I've heard of FM-tunable solutions etc. I can't seem to google too much info on the subject. Any thoughts/experiences?
I have a panasonic digital phone and use Rogers (the we-say-so corp. ) mobile here in southern Ontario / GTA.
Thanks in advance. This newcomer loves the site!

I had one for a little while that worked off of an FM radio station. The only problem with it was that I could hear the person I was talking to but they couldn't hear me. I ended up tossing it.

hands-free kits
My 95 SE had a professional-installed? Nokia hands-free kit. I don't think the kit was available in any retail outlet. I tried many retail kits for our 2k2 but ended up returning all of them because of mass suckage.
If you use the phone alot in the car I would recommend getting a real hands-free kit installed/hardwired from a local sound shop and not waste your hard-earned $ on a modulated toy.

The only ones that really work are hard wire kits. Most mfgs charge from $120-$200. The cig lighter plug-ins and FM mod units are pretty bad.
I have had a Nokia Car Kit for about 6 years. I couldnt talk on the phone with out it. Not hard to install. Mount the microphone on the header console, run the wire down the a-pillar, down the dash panel and underneath. I have my speaker tucked up under the dash in the driver footwell. The cradle is mounted to the console next to the radio. The cpu and wires can be tucked behind the console kick panel from the passenger foot well. You can tap into the +12V lead from the cigarette lighter. That way the phone will turn on and off with the car.
Not sure about panasonic, but Nokia's newer car kits have a remote button (need for bluetooth) with a volume ****. The old phone kit I had was limited in volume. This new one with the volume **** will let you hear with the windows down.
