Thinking of buying from Warpspeed Performance? Look at this!(Long post)

Ever since I got my Maxima, I have lurked around this board to gain new knowledge about my car. I wandered into the Group Buy section of this board and stumbled into a tempting thread that was offering a group buy for Warpspeed Performance Y-pipes for $160 shipped. That price was so tempting and I decided to give them a call. I got a hold of Dallas soon after. I talked to him for about 10-15 minutes and he seemed like a very knowledgable guy. He told me that the B-pipe will add more power than the Y-pipe, due to the fact the newer stock Y-pipes are not as restrictive as the ones in the eariler generation Maximas. So I gave in, and I purchased a Y and B-pipe from him for $325 shipped. After almost a week, I still have not received my order, so I decided to give him another call. Dallas said that he had them boxed up and he will be shipping them out that day. It seemed to me that he just simply forgot. The pipes were at my house the next day via Fedex because his shop is only about 2-3 hours away from where I live. Here are some pictures of the numerous problems:

The first problem could be seen here. They are 2 O2 sensor bungs in the Y-pipe. I didn't realize that my car only had one O2 sensor in the Y-pipe, so I was surprised to find this information out when I was already done uninstalling the stock Y-pipe. I called him a couple days later and he said that one of his workers got confused and drilled a O2 bung from a 2002-2003 and another bung for an eariler generation Maxima into the same Y-pipe! The vertical flange of the WSP Y-pipe is crooked also, and it does not sit completely level with the upper part of the exhaust manifold. I am just glad it doesn't leak. He said that he would send me another Y-pipe, but I haven't seen it in 2 months.

Here is the first hanger for the B-pipe that Warpspeed sent me. It didn't fit at all.

The second hanger he sent me, which is even worse than the first!

The temporary fix until welding day.

The cause of the metal-to-metal banging noise.

My car would rattle every time I put it in reverse and went over bumps the first day I installed it. The B-pipe would bang against the crossmember when I hit WOT due to the wrong design of the Y-pipe. It took me a week to completely fix all these frustrating and annoying problems. I just welded the B-pipe together and welded a new hanger on there instead of using the non-fitting ones that he provided me with. I also temporally removed the crossmember in order to stop the banging noise at WOT. The problems are a cause of bad quality and carelessness. Please think twice about buying Warpspeed Performance products. I don't think all these problems were worth it for the low price. I have learned a big lesson from this, which everyone has heard before...You get what you pay for. If you don't to deal with these problems, then get a higher quality product.

never had a brand named b pipe (just had a 2.25 w/ resonator made at a local shop) but my old cattman ypipe used to hit the same crossmember on my 01. you can either lower it using longer bolts and a few washers or just remove it entirely. i do understand your frustration however and have seen more than few complain about the fitment of the b pipe.

Thanks for the suggestion. After I get done with my finals, I will be putting spacers in between the crossmember and the B-pipe.
