a demand for '02 max

hey all, i received another letter from the local nissan dealership wanting to buy my car; '02 max SE. is the '02 max really in demand? or is this another ploy for me to trade my car in, and spend more $$ on another nissan? the letter states that there is a "high demand of vehicle requests" for the '02 max.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the only thing "in demand" is your money.... it's a ploy.

When I received a similar letter from Nissan for my 2000 Quest, I became very suspicious. They werent in much demand back in 2000 and I'm VERY certain it's in MUCH less demand now.

i had a sticker hanging in my car when i had work done at a dealership. it said something along the lines of "Our used car guy has valued your car between $10,357 and $12,621. Come inside for details!" i didn't even waste my time.

I've recieved several of these letters from the dealership I bought my car at. It's the end of the year, they are starting to get desperate.

I had a friend of mine that used to sell new cars. He got his customers from "Would you takes".....in which they would go to the mall and leave notes on random cars saying "would you take $X,XXX for your car? Call me at 555-5555". People would bite the hook on this like crazy!!!!

See, he figures that's not his problem. BUT, he will have succeeded in putting money back in your pocket though.

In all fairness, it's the dealers who do this, not Nissan North America.

Yeah, when dealers are hard up for sales ... they're HARD up for sales. I made the mistake of trying to find a Dodge SRT-4 just to look at them (a friend has one and they're pretty impressive) and after a week of rain and due to the fact it was still fairly drizzly, I was the object of quite a bit of dealership hounding. I didn't and still don't want to trade my Max in.

That'd be cool if they sent me a letter saying: "We'd like to take your 2002 Max SE, with no extra options, and give you a 2002 Max SE/GLE LOADED with Meridian and leather and sunroof, etc."

I'd s hit myself.

Its true my dealer said that when he gets in an 02/03 Maximas they tend to sell very quickly on his lot. I saw one last Tues. when I went in for my free oil change and Sat. when I called up their for friend looking for it from my salesman it was sold Friday. It was a nice 02 Grey Lustre SE with 27,000 miles.

When I bought my 02 max from the stealership it was right after hurricane frances here in martin county aka the county that both frances and jeanne made landfall in. They hadn't sold a car in 2 weeks so I pretty much got it for as low as they would go. I sent my mom in after getting a runaround from my dad's good friend who said he would help me out but didn't. They had the sticker for 20k on the car with 38k miles on it, base GLE w/ leather and bose, no sunroof no heated anything. My mom got them to come down $2,000 when the best my dad's buddy would give me was $1,000 under sticker. The car had been sitting on the lot for about 6 months according to carfax so I can't believe they were still asking 20k.
