if water gets inside, your engine will be hydrolocked and thats not a good thing. as far as taking out the intake, i guess it depends on where the hose is located.

Kinda curious about this too. I get a lot of snow here and I have the Injen. I don't think it'll be a problem though because I still have the plastic shield under the engine.

Don't park in any puddles and you will be fine

Injen sells a splash guard (that you could probably make yourself) and AEM has a bypass valve.... if you're really worried about it, might wanna check those out... although I've heard very mixed reviews about their effectiveness...

You need to completely submerge the end of the intake tube, and if you do that you're driving in water you shouldn't be in to begin with.

I haven't taken my injen out since I put it in, but I don't offroad with my maxima, either.

Last week I went over this ridiculously enormous puddle here in NY. The puddle was at least a foot deep if not more. I had no other way to go...and I had to go through it. I could've sworn I saw smoke or some sort of steam coming from the front side of my car. As soon as I crawled out of that f-in ocean I realized how thankful I was for never getting an intake. My engine would've been fuxxored right then and there.

if you can drive in the rain you can drive in the snow. the only reason i can see for taking it out is fuel mileage, the colder and deser the air the more fuel you use. it shouldnt really make too much of a difference though. if you get a full gulp of water in your intake you are more than FUKED. when i worked at audi we had an A4 that some idiot drove through 3 feet of standing water, that engine looked great. bent rods mashed valves, etc. the whole drivetrain, save the trans, had to be replaced.

well, the injen WARM AIR INTAKE has like a 96 foot pipe that you'd have to suck water through, so i wouldn't worry about that too much. if you do have a cai, it's a place racing or cattman, and it's in the wheel well. i wouldn't worry about that either.

I was also kinda worried too. I am thinking about somehow making some sort of flexible gasket to make sure nothing gets in between the wheel well cover and the well itself. I am also going to need to do something with the hole because my concoction came off or something and the intake is rubbing/squeeking again. Anybody have success bloting the damn thing in place or something? Maybe work with the stock bracket somehow? The woes of PR CAI

I took my blower out and sent it back to vortech. I have the same intake as if it were still there. I have a piece of panty hose(from yo mommy) for a filter! Use some common sense and you will be ok.
