TWM Performance Maxima Shifter now available!

Hi Everyone,

I'm very pleased to announce that we have completed testing on our 2002-2003 Maxima short throw shifter and that it is now officially for sale on our website http://www.twmperformance.com/shorts...anshifters.htm .

Similar to our solution for the Spec V, we've used a transmission mounted shift adapter to relocate the mounting point for the shifter cable and thus reduce throw by approximately 33%. As with all of our products, we offer a full, lifetime guarantee on the part so you can rest assured that it will last the life of your car.

Also, installation takes only 15-20 minutes thanks to a detailed, illustrated instruction manual that is included with the kit.

The shifter retails for $194.57 and is in stock and ready to ship as of today. Also, we are currently offering free shipping within continental North America so now is the perfect time to order and get the part installed before Christmas.

Thanks and let me know if you have any questions at all!

Happy Holidays,

Karel W.

Another company came first and theirs is only retailing for 170 something. Same reduction in throw and they offer a initial buy of $150. They got like 30 buyers in the past week. I don't think people will jump on this for the price. Just a suggestion (I am not biased because I like my stock shifter)

to what Mark said...

Also... have y'all gotten any local .Org members to test the STS who can provide some feedback, testimonials, or something? Just curious... I like to know what someone else says about em before buying something...

The other company got one of the local guys to install it in his Max so at least one person that we know can vouch for the quality, performance, etc.... might help if ya did it too.... since it seems that you're rather new here.... but please correct me if I'm wrong....

Happy user of TWM shifter

I can count myself as a satisfied user of the TWM product.
First (and most importantly) the TWM kit provided 2 immediately obvious benefits: much more precise shifts with all the stock slop gone and a shift pattern considerably reduced. I really hated the 'rowing machine' feel of the stock shift mechanism. With the kit installed, the difference is night and day--shifts are faster, tighter, without being notchy or too stiff.
Second, the installation is a no-brainer--a couple of bolts on the (stock) airbox and the TWM piece slid perfectly onto the top of the transmission where the shifter cables enter. No adjustments or fussing required, nice precision piece. Believe me, I'm mechanically challenged at the best of times and appreciated the development that went into this equipment.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the installation and the result. My shifter now feels worthy of the rest of the car.
Hope this helps. BTW I'm a newbie and I'm always looking for tips and high value mods like this.

interesting how competition is so inspiring. I expect like 3 more of these now. We can debate which is the best and such, great job twm! thank you for adding to the cause, i ordered the hpautoworks one, but i anticipate your price will
pretty much discourage buyers off the bat, since hp autoworks has a group deal going right now for 150.

To me the decision is dictated by price, and who came first, but again congrats, i hpoe some more guys grab this and let us all know.

another thing to note is that 00-03 maxima shifters are not the same. So either this application is available for 00-01 traditional rod shifters or 02-03 cable shifters

EDIT: looking at those pics, it definitely will NOT fit 00-01 cars. Becareful what you market

My mistake, that is a typo and has been corrected. The shifter was prototyped using the 2002 model.

Look guys, I can understand your skepticism given the type of things that happen on the internet but I can assure you that everything is on the up and up. The user Black02 is the owner of the Maxima which we used during the prototyping process, hence, he is the first to have our shifter installed in his car.

He also owns an 88 Celica all-trac which we used as a prototype car 2 years ago, so we contacted him through e-mail, not through this forum. I believe he does read these boards but, as you can see, he rarely posts on them.

Someone asked for an opinion concerning the shifter and, being the only one with one installed right now, he offered his opinion.

If anyone else would like to learn more about our company and our products I urge you to search through some other online car forums (www.srtforums.com, www.newcelica.org, www.mazda3forums.com, www.protege5.com etc.). We are very well known on many of them and would never treat our customers in a dishonest or manipulative way.

I hope this can clear things up and feel free to contact me directly with any questions.

Clarification

Gentlemen: if there is something I have said that is offensive to the list, I apologize. I have owned my Max for a month only and as I said, this is my first mod. I offered my feedback as (what I thought) was potentially useful to others. I have no affiliation with TWM or any other vendor except that I have their shifters on my 88 and 93 Celica Alltracs and found them excellent. (See alltrac.net for other members' reviews).
I certainly appreciate the need for caution when dealing with vendors on the net since I've had my own bad experiences. But please let me assure you that I have no interest in misrepresentation or bad dealings in any way.
If you check my email account, you'll see that it is part of the federal gov't of Canada where I work, definitely not the car aftermarket.
Hope this clears the air on this thread and who I am--a Max newbie wants to share information. Many thanks.

Hi Karel,

I was the one who asked for clarification, and it just seemed too coincidental that it was from someone who had just one post and who had just joined this month. Just trying to be wary of the ever increasing Internet scams these days, as you pointed out.

It was nothing personal or hostile, it was just for extra security and verification. I'm not in the market for a STS right now, but if you prove yourselves true to your words, I'm sure other Maxima owners will post great and honest feedback on these forums for ya. All the best.

Nothing was offensive to me, it was just a matter of being careful with information from parties I'm not familiar with, esp when dealing with the anonymity that the Internet brings. I'm sure ya understand. Like I posted in the post before this, if y'all are for real, we will know sooner or later and things will all be warm and fuzzy.

Welcome to the .Org....

One more thing, to echo what others have already said, if this is truly as good as it sounds, it is great news indeed. I don't think I speak for myself when I say that most of us Maxima owners have been craving more options and choices when it comes to aftermarket parts.

Is there any way we could get a group deal started on this? I'd like to have one and it looks as good as any other STS on the market, maybe even better. Your thoughts TWM?

Apparently it's USD, which means that for $50 cheaper, the HPA will continue to dominate this market. Although if HPA raises they're prices as they've threatened to, that may also change...

Looks like on their website, TWM has lowered the price to like $157. So w/shipping it's still a lil' more expensive than the HP STS.
