That's probably about right for stock - although the trap speed seems a bit low.

you could run 14.7s in a 5spd without a problem. I've seen quite a few SE 5spd bone stock to run 14.8-14.9 with the heavy 17" wheels. Lets remember most of these magazine drivers do not know a Maxima as well as some of us who drive it daily. WTF do journalists know bout driving anyways ?

Definitely looks a little slow. I've never ran a 1/4 track but i trapped 74 in the 1/8, and that was 9.8 seconds. According to those posted times it would have taken me 2 more seconds to gain 5 more mph, and I wouldn't even have to shift in that time frame.

I would say the absolute best anyone could run in a stock 2k/2k1 5spd is high 14.8s. That is only under optimal conditions with someone who knows that the ONLY way to get a good time is to launch from high revs and slip the clutch. But, I would say that kind of time in a stock is a real rarity. I doubt anyone who doesn't have a bunch of runs on this car can run stock sub 15 by much under normal conditions without a lot of practice. A good driver ought to be able to beat 15.3 and EASILY go above 94. It is a bear to launch the 2k/2k1 properly - I've heard lots of talk about people running times but actually doing it is something else.

As far as I know the fastest anyone has run in a non-fi 2k/2k1 5sp is Madmax2k who ran 14.38 @ 97 with CAI and Ypipe here in Florida. I've run close (14.39/98.03) but with more mods - hopefully that will go down in the next week or so!

I don't know what the auto will run. The key with the 5spd is not so much the mods but the launch. You've got to launch from 4k or higher and ride out the clutch - any wheel hop and you are dead. I'll tell you, it is hard to get it right - and it is hard on the clutch.

Madmax2k could consistently launch from 5k+ - I still can't get a GREAT launch from there. Of course now he's got a monster turbo dodge sleeper!

5200RPM and slip the clutch out, 2.1 60' time and 14.7@95MPH bone stock on RE92 Potenza 205-65-15s on steel wheels. 60 deg weather very low humidity, mileage on the car- 1500 miles. I did this about a week or so after buyn my car in May of 01.

That's an awesome time - you got the launch perfect!

You know I completely forgot about the wheels - I was thinking of the heavy 17" wheels since that is what I and madmax2k had.

Was that a flat 14.7? Also, if it was a 2.1 flat that's something I've never been able to do - best I've done is just under 2.2.

One other clarification - I'm not including slicks either and it was not a stripped car.

14.72@95.4MPH to be exac, with no spare tire, no jack, nothing in the trunk and 1/4 tank of gas - 93 octane. 60' was 2.16 , I would love to try some slicks and bust out a 1.8 60' and run a 14.3 stock time :P my trap speed would suffer a little bit but who cares with that kinda E/T.

Yes, I've thought about the slicks too. Cut .2 off that 60' ought to equal .4 et. Hmmm, that could be 13s. . . .

Just don't wanna break any axles . . . !
