*PICS* Umnitza FogLight HIDs *PICS*

First off, I do have to say these are a bit more work than Plug-n-Play.

You have to do a bit of work to make things work with the housing.

Here are the PIX

I have been seriously thinking about putting HIDS in the fogs. When you have your headlights on, how do they look? Compared to the Xtreme White? What do you have in your clearance lights-Polarg?

I had xtreme white bulbs and got HID fogs a while back. I should have done it sooner. I can see much better at night.

I thought that HID bulbs run cooler than halogens. If that's the case, wouldn't his housings have a lower chance of cracking than if he were running stock halogen bulbs? :shurg:

no, you are very much wrong. you are thinking the heat caused the glass to crack. that is NOT the case. i'm on my 3rd set of fogs. when the 2nd set cracked, i talked to daveb and mentioned to him that i felt the glass was made too flimsy. he disagreed. months later, i was talking to him again and he mentioned to me how his overwhelming amount of 02-03 fog orders convinced him that there was more than just "high heat". the glass is weak, and one good hit will crack them. believe me, or don't believe me, that's the issue.

Polo, did you ever use a protective film for your fogs to see if that would help. I totally agree with you on the issue of the fogs easily cracking just wondering if anyone has done anything to try to protect them especially those who have gone the hid route. I know some org members actually replaced there fogs with those from an Xterra.

I have seen that some have put protective 3M tape over the fog glass.

So the HID kit isn't that hard to install? I'm thinking of getting a kit for my projectors.

For the Clearance/ParkingLights I have a 9 LED bulb (Hyperwhite I think)
The HIDs match the clearance but my stock ones look more yellow now....Time to change those to 6000K

Marco....My foglights have never cracked yet...way so kill my high (not drug related) I think it's because you have the cheap 2k2

3M 40MIL Clear Urethane. I've had them covered since day 1. No cracks, nicks, chips or problems. With all of the construction here in Atlanta I'd say it works fine. The HID kit has a rubber gromet that fits nicely if the hole is drilled correctly in the back of the fog, that and add a little silicone to be sure and it's water tight!

I love my 5000k HID's but they're a little more blue than the stock HID's.

Check to see if not all of your LEDs are coming up. I had a problem with my wiring harness that made it so that only 2 or 3 of the 9 LEDs came up.

How much were they?

You said "You have to do a bit of work" What do you mean by work? Is it figiting so that they fit right? Or cutting?

And those are disguestingly sick....I like it!

Well the way I did it is I cut the stock harness that you can unplug so i can unplug the HIDs. Then a bit of soldering and drilling.....(the cap on the housing of the fogs needs to have a wider hole so the connectors can fit through) Trust me. Most of this install is common sence....
