Anyone replace bulb in dash console?

I just bought a 2001 SE today and I noticed that the left half of the temp/air control panel is dark. It's the lowest section of the centre dash console. Anyone taken this piece off and have some tips?

Ya........

Ya I replaced that damn bulb. In my 2000 manual A/C controls. You have to take out the whole stereo with the A/C heater controls my bulb was out on the left as well but since it was out I replaced both sides. You can order the bulb from any Nissan dealership the part number is "LAMP ASSY" 27545-2Y010 order at least 2.It is this little grey plastic piece with a tiny little bulb with a blue condom over the bulb. Nissan tried to tell me that there was no part number for that bulb & that it was a non servicable part. That if I wanted it to light up again I would have to buy another A/C heater control unit for like $450 bucks. I called Dave.B & he did some looking up for me & got me the part number. It is a real time consuming job. I guess that is why Nissan considers it non servicable. Good luck & take your time. Perhaps a Mod could put this part number in the FAQ section because it was a real pain in the butt to get this part number.

I'd give it about 2 to 3 hours, maximum.

Thanks a lot for the part number. I'll copy it down and tackle the job on a day when I'm feeling very patient and relaxed

If you JUST bought it, I'd have the dealer fix it under some kind of "good faith" act. Its just good business if they do. If not, tell them that it'll be the last car you buy from them and you'll let all your friends know what wonderful service you got.
