i was driving from Maine to Mass on 95 doing maybe 65mph in the rain on my 4 brand new falkens after a cake show in portland. 2:30 in the morning and my ses light comes on. 44,479 miles on engine when light came on. i shut off the radio and the fan. pulled over at first exit and checked oil. had a cup of coffee while engine cooled for 30 minutes. oil was right on exactly between level of high and low.

two days later, light shuts off. why? i'm getting ready to drive this thing to colorado the day after christmas to go to school out there. is the ses light going to turn on everytime it rains? WTF? anyone else with a 02 se 6speed that does this?

according to the manual, major service is to be done at 42,250(?) and 45,000miles. car was in between both. some cars have these lights come on just before they need one of these major services (like my mom's saab 9-5 and my dad's honda pilot.) was that what this was?

oh, and i have a franken/apexi intake and i checked to make sure the mass airflow sensor harness wasn't loose. it wasn't. i have a JWT clutch in the car, but that's the only other engine part i've replaced. i also had just put in a k&n oil filter a week before with mobil 1 synthetic.

any ideas?
