Just remove the headlamps by unbolting them. The recall, data dots update for the HID lamps on 5th gens relocates the ballest to a bracket thats bolted onto the frame rail. (Rendering the lights useless if their stolen) Your headlights will come out of the car normally just by taking out the two 10mm bolts on the radiator support and gently pulling the lights out. Then just unplug the lead from the back of the headlights that comes from the ballest on the bracket. (The ballest remains on the car) There's a plastic clip in the inner fender and a lower clip under the headlights that may hold the lights, pull or pry the lights gently and the clips should release.

actually you are wrong.
the lights are being held to the data dot bracket with 3 bolts underneeth the light..and the bracket is held to the frame with 2 frame support bolts ...good luck getting them out without going from under the car.

You know I think your right. The last headlight theft job we got at the body shop had the recall installed when the lights were ripped out. I do remember seeing a part of the plastic housing still connected to that bracket. Gezzz if thats the case, there gonna be a PITA to take out. Your probably going to have to take the splash shields off under the front end and go in from underneath to gain access to those bolts.

Nissan would not sell us the kit, can't figure out why, so we never reinstalled the recall in the customers car. I wasn't aware they were bolted from the bottom as well.

i made it even harder for thieves to take out the lights..
it took a bit of time ..but its worth it in my opinion i think.
if anyone took out their lights before . they know that ithe light is held in place by 2 bolts on top. and it has like a metal rod on the outer side of the light that snaps in into the fender.(hope you know what i am talking about )
well anyway.. this requeres for the front wheels to be taken off ..and the plastic on the inside of the fender to be taken out at least the front part...
what u do is take out that metal little piece from the headlight. then u can go from the inside of the fender and screw in a bolt right in place of that metal rod piece.
basically almost imposible to take out the lights.

the data dots themselves are numbers based off your vin # that are assigned to your headlights. if your lights get stolen and then turn up being sold on ebay or something , they can link the lights back to your car so you can press charges, and/or reclaim ownership. This is in addition to the metal bracket installed to supposedly make it harder to steal your lights and some dumb stickers that are supposed to deter thieves.

The data dot headlight theft bracket actually has 2 bolts all throught the bumper brackets just behind the foglights. They are a pain in the *** to get out.
