your right blackbird,
Throw a blower on your max, and start transporting the sick of chicago instead of the ambulance. The stupidity of some of the max community is astounding. Are you bragging about getting pulled over doing 130 without a license. Maybe someday you'll make enough cash to move out to the boonies also. mdloops, a response to you is a waste of bandwidth, especially considering you were attempting to flame me. I rescind everything I've said in the past. Drive those maxes as fast and furious as you can. Who gives a crap about anybody else on the road anyway.

Umm...

1. Congrats on the new baby! Have fun staying up all night!

2. Please drive safely. Your Maxima can go fast, but it can also stop very quickly if it meets another heavy object on the road (like a concrete median or another car). I am very happy that your wife and child are healthy, but it could've turned out much worse.

I used to be a chronic speeder. I thought I was a great driver, and I just knew that I could handle my car at speeds over 100mph (I used to drive a Sentra. Those 1.8L models are faster than you might think). I've never been in a high-speed wreck, but I saw my best friend spin out across a median and into an oncoming lane during a race with me. It was one of the worst moments of my life. He lived, and each of us went on to get into even more trouble. We got tickets for speeding, driving too fast for conditions, and for aggressive driving. We were still so confident in our skills and so in love with the idea of speed that we kept being stupid after that. He and I have both had our licenses suspended for six months, and the combined fees that we've paid for our stupidity are well over $8000.

I still like to drive fast, but now I keep it legal. Autocrossing and drag racing at the local strip help me keep my cravings in check.

3. If you take your Maxima to a mechanic who performs unnecessary service or who breaks things to make your repairs more expensive, you won't take your car back there, will you? You'll take the time to find a good, trustworthy mechanic. Treat your health the same way.

The health care debate will always rage on. Some doctors are great. Others aren't. That's the problem with doctors. They're human, just like teachers, garbage men, soldiers, burger flippers, lawyers, grocery baggers, pimps, and nuns. Find a good one and get to know him or her. If you need a specialist, get your good doctor to recommend a specialist to you. That still won't guarantee that you'll always be in good hands, but at least you'll have taken an active interest in the quality of your family's health care.

Picking a doctor isn't as easy as it sounds. An older doctor may have a lot of experience, but he may not be up to date on all the newest techniques. A young doctor may have read all the latest medical journals, but he might not have the experience and intuition of his older colleagues. In three years, I'll be a doctor (assuming that med school doesn't kill me), and I've seen medical professionals and medical instructors whom I would trust with my life. I've seen others that I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy.

Getz- I live in Hoffman Estates, for the price of a NEW HOUSE in Plainfield you cant even buy a decent condo in my neck of the woods. Considering I work in Naperville and know Chicagoland like the top of my hand I think I should know a thing or 2 bout Plainfield. Comparing my CASH I make to your cash is not all that civil, as I don't charge 200 bux for a visit to a doctor (mechanic) just so he/she can say hello, check my blood pressure and charge me 200 dollars for NOTHING. Doctors in this country are the biggest crooks right after the law attorneys. I love when a doctor pulls into the service drive- this means we get to hit him up for everything under the sun at double the fee. I have lived in this country for 12 years now, I speak 3 languages perfectly, and I only been to the doctor 2 times, and each time it was missdiagnosis of what is wrong with my health. Don't tell me how to drive, and please do not tell me what to do with my 100+K dollars a year I make. Peace the ***** out.

That's bullsh*t. I remember that night. I barely touched 80 and only held it for a few seconds and I stopped right away. I ended up driving the rest of the exits with Packet until he took the Van Wyck. 100 on the LIE? Are you nuts? I know there are cops stationed there all the time around 10PM-2AM -- I know better. And there was not a chance in hell you passed me going 120, because I remember that traffic was reasonably crowded.

Save it.

blackbird,
One, you're calling us crooks, and you just admitted to raping every physician that pulls into your shop. If you wanna go to school for twelve years than you can come back and complain about us being overpaid Two, I am ten minutes from naperville, funny that you would choose to work put your shiester auto shop out in the boonies. I wont get into the money issue, but you admittedly drive like an ahole. I'm very proud of your salary, give me your address and i'll mail your crook *** a gold star.

BEN- Congradulations on your new baby~!.........

i'm pretty sure you were driving fast, w/caution though so its totally understandable ......

ALSO-... IMO Some of you guys should use a different choice of words.....who the hell is anyone to call another person this and that....it was Bens decision to drive fast to get his wife to the hospital of choice.... i would of done the same thing... we all know all hospitals can deliver a baby and then again we all know there are better hospitals....Ben wanted to go to the one of his choice b/c he prob felt that it was the better hosp. i would want the best for my wife..and if i opposed to his actions i wouldn't call him a dumb A*S or what not.. etc..... .. well there goes my .02..... like it or love it fellas .... once again congrats Ben.....

I just can't shake the feeling of doing 120 with 3 people in a car as being insanely dangerous. I've been to Lexington and the highways can be a bit curvy there. But whatever. I'll shut up. He made it safe and sound and that's what matters.

Dumb call, I'm an EMT/Firefighter here in Maryland and I've seen a lot of accidents. Should have called an Ambulance and got a ride to the hospital that way, you wouldn't have been posting that story too us if you got into an accident would you?

P.S - you can speed in any car, not just a maxima.

The point is that he DIDNT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. When my family is at risk, THEY ARE MY MAIN CONCERN. Thats a part of life. This guy NYPD Arnold is just a 22 year old gung ho cop. I am only 23 but I have a 2 and a 5 year old and if I have to put someone else at risk to help them, then thats what my job is as a father. Maybe some of you dont understand that and never will until another life like your child is at risk. I commend you Ben for your decision and certainly dont take what these flamers say at heart. Its obvious that the majority supported your decision. Getz...suck a D I C K your just a chump who is in Med school. When someone gets in a critical situation they dont have time to analyze everything, you have to make quick decisions and execute. Thats what he did and he did the right thing. And to you ambulance drivers....you guys suck...I certainly trust my driving skills over almost anyone so when it comes down to relying on my skills vs someone elses, I will choose mine every SINGLE DAMN TIME!!!

just b/c it was crowded doesn't mean you cant go 120....if you find an opening its possible....but i wasn't on the LIE w/you guys so i wouldn't kno....but the way QMax03 drives i'm sure its not hard for him to find an opening

and hey NYPD Arnold ....you shouldn/t have to worry about speeding/getting pulled over...you're a police officer (inside joke for those to dont get it)... i'll see you guys later....sorry i couldn't make the meet.

For you guys that don't know what a doula is. Enjoy the reading. Congrats Ben!! I did
the same thing with my oldest. I had three of the best hospital to go to and I asked
which one the President goes to.. It was a 40 minutes drive but if Bethesda Naval
Medical Center was good enough for the President, then it was good enough for my
wife and kid.

Mike

The word, "doula," comes from the Greek word for the most important female slave or servant in an ancient Greek household, the woman who probably helped the lady of the house through her childbearing. The word has come to refer to "a woman experienced in childbirth who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother before, during and just after childbirth."

Congrats on your baby. You got lucky this time, in the future try harder to avoid situations where you might kill it.

First off you A S S H O L E, his child is not an "it." 2k2 Kev why do you always come in a post and do nothing but make smart comments. Almost every damn post I read from you its always a smart comment where you are basically trying to belittle someone else. Do you think you are the smartest person on here? Go eat a D I C K you jerk!

First off when I posted I hadn't read his reply with the sex so rather than write 'him/her' I (correctly) used the gender neutral 'it'. If he cared so much about his baby he would have let us know if it was a boy or girl, AND he wouldn't have tried to kill it by going 120mph.

Second, apparently you only remember "every damn post" where I make a smart comment because there are *plenty* where I do more than belittle people. It's just this is such a target-rich environment

Third, I do not think I'm the smartest person in here, but both times my wife was pregnant we had a better plan than for me to leave work, fight traffic getting home, pick someone up on the way, then turn around and drive 30 miles to the hospital. We actually *did* pick a hospital 16 miles away rather than go the one 4 miles away but it also meant we had a plan on how to do it SAFELY and both times we got there without putting anyone in danger, especially the baby.

If they wanna ban me for what I said...go right ahead. I have many IP addresses that I could just re-register with. But I dont think that would happen based on what I have said. I just dont feel that anyone should judge what another man does when he feels he is doing whats best for him and his family. I think his actions justified his means. I just always seem to read negative or smart comments from 2k2Kev, hell even as I was typing that he was slamming someone else. I am sure you have made decent posts before, but you have quite a few smart ones that seem to stick out. I may only have 80 posts or so but I do alot of reading on these forums when I have downtime at work.

Huh? I don't remember that...show me.

Exactly what's wrong with my sig? It (sorry, is a sig a she or he?) came about because there were about 14 intake threads in the first 40 threads in the 5th gen forum, and there would have been 1 if people took 3 seconds to scan down the list and see.

edit: added sig

Congrats on the baby. Why didn't the doula drive your wife to the hospital? You could then have gone to the hospital and not all the way home and then to the hospital.

Congrats on the new baby. I think it's everyone's gut reaction to panic and drive fast to get to the hospital. But in retrospect, I think it would have been safer/faster to call 911. You can tell them what hospital you are registered at. They can get to you alot faster and can get though traffic faster. And if your wife has the child before you arrive at the hospital, they are much better equipped to deliver a baby than yourself and the doula.

First let me say congrats to Ben for becoming a new father....now to the matter at hand..

A plan? You had a Plan? well good for you..but not EVERYTHING goes by PLAN my friend...you cant depend on everything to go your way the minute you are gonna have a baby....sorry but thats the truth...maybe Ben had a plan but something came up...you never know...

getz1...you're not cool...no one cares that you are a doctor, although it is a great achievement, no one cares...

I think given the situation Ben did the right thing....I wouldnt wanna wait for a damn ambulance and then end up paying 3k....i would hop in the max and burn some rubber, but i would do it responsibly...which ben obviously did b/c everything turned out fine...

again congrats to ben....

The plan included what we would do if I was home, or at work, or just "out"...so yes, we had a plan and everything would have gone by it in any situation.

It turned out I was home at the time both times and both times she "got a strange feeling" we should go to the hospital so it was great that I got to take her and hours later she had the babies. In the same situation but I was at work she would have called my sister. If she felt an URGENT need she would have called 911.

Nowhere in the plan was for me to leave work and drive 22miles home, then turn around and drive 16miles to the hospital. Thatis asinine, bordering on neglect. Get pulled over going 120mph with a newborn in the car and DSS/DYS might take your child away.
maybe Ben had a plan but something came up...you never know...

He had a plan and did it... "go home and get her and stop and get someone else then drive 30miles." It was the absolute worst plan ever, and I put as much blame on his wife as I do him. When she felt the baby coming faster while he was on the way home SHE should have called the ambulance and left him a note. Call 911 and say "I'm having a baby in my kitchen" and there will be an ambulance at your house in less than 10min...while he (his words) "fought through some seriously slow traffic."

They were both pretty dumb. I hope it's not genetic.

WTG and congrats on the new addition to the family -- don't let any of the cops and other jerks tell you how to drive. A little civil disobedience goes a long way.

If I wanted to drive 55 I'd buy a Kia.
