I have been trying to think of ways to build a custom stand that holds a portable dvd player in a 2000 maxima. Every idea I have had it's been impossible to find the parts to create it. Basically what I am looking for is a stand that can be put away when not in use, like slide out of the way. If anyone has done this or has any advice I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

hmmm...where in the car would you be talking about?
If you're talking about perhaps under the seat, like a sliding tray? Maybe use some drawer hardware or something?? I need more details about location, size, reason, portability, etc.....

well lets see. I want the dvd player which is an 8 inch screen to be positioned right in front of the cd player when the stand is out. I would like the stand to be able to swing over and fold flat against the passenger side center console area. Almost like the mounts that cops use to mount their laptops. I dont know if this would work. My goal overall is to achieve the dvd player when in use to be positioned close to the cd player right above the shifter.

haha, such an insightful post... well worth the time it took to read it.

back on topic, are you going to secure your dvd player in any way? Or just have it sit on top of a tray?

you would need some kind of double-pivot arm...possibly a good place to pick one up would be a specialty computer store....or you can always make one out of homedepot stuff like I would

WTF? Still at what? He wants an LCD screen that slides out out of the center console and sits against it. Am I not understanding what he wants? I know 4 people who have a setup like that in their Maximas. Just go to any Circuit City, look in any Crutchfield magazine and you'll find what you need...

Read his first post. He wants some sort of stand for his "PORTABLE" DVD player.
