Coils failed on 00 max... need solid answers fast

I have read many posts about the coils failing in the 2000 maxima's. I need a solid answer if I should get the coils from the 2001 maxima to replace the ones that failed. I have heard conflicting answers and need to know by monday to tell my dealer what to put on. Please only if you know for sure. It will be covered under warranty thank god. Please if you have had this problem what did you do. Thanks so much.

Since im assuming you have the extended warranty and the dealer will be replacing them free of charge, all you need to do is make sure he puts on the updated models of the coil, which have the round gray dot on top of each one.

If you have an extended warranty they will only fix the blown coils. I had one blow and they covered the repair. I have no idea which coil they put in but I'm afraid the originals might blow at any time.

My extended warranty covered only the blown one the first time, but when the second one went 50 miles later they replaced the remaining 5.

I heard conflicting stories that the ones with the grey dot are not actually updated... I need a very solid answer by monday morning dec. 19th. I would like to know if I can put the 01's on since they are a different model number then the 00's

Call DAVEB and send him a PM and email. He works in a parts department, I believe, in Texas. I think his number is 1-888-254-6060. Ask for Dave Burnette, most likely he will give you the answer you are looking for. At least he can give you better info than the most of us.

Edit: BTW, isn't Monday the 20th?
