I haven't had any issues with my heated seats, in my Max. However, I have in previous vehicles and what it came down to was that they just plain wear out.

Haven't had a problem with mine yet....I would just get mine fixed though because I love them so much. Last night I saw 4 on my temp guage. Maybe buy a whole seat or see if you could get the heater off a wrecked Max?

how long does it take for the heater in the seat to actually get hot? i set it to high, and when i remote start my car in the morning, the seat is just a little warm. after i drive for about 5 minutes or so it gets warmer, but it never gets HOT, like the steering wheel.

It won't get as hot as the wheel (not as much between the heater and your skin with the wheel) but it will get toasty. It also has some to do with the temperature outside as to how fast it will heat up (naturally). If it works, I'd say its working properly since there's not that much that can go wrong.

Yep pretty much your butt and back that makes it hot. Without sitting in it and sagging closer to the heater it will only be slightly warm. It is nice in the max with Hi and Low. I also own an Explorer Eddie Bauer and it only has on and off. You have to constanly mess with it bacause on is too hot and it cools of after 15 min so it is back on.
