Just bought a 2003 6-Speed Maxima!!!!

just got a 6 speed 2003 maxima, dark grey, 33k miles, cloth, no bose, sunroof, spoiler. I'm exited, been looking for a long time, paid 17,900. its on warrantee til 36k and drivetrain 60k. they offered another warrantee that covers like 15,000 parts for 4 years, something miles, that costs a little less than 1200, is that worth it, should i get it???? im picking it up tomorow, its clean, anything you guys wanto tell me or think i should know??

i picked up the same car (except sheer silv) with 29k for $17.5 back in june, but that was way below typical prices at the time. $17.9 for a clean (ie no dings/scratches, good rubber, etc) is still a very good price.

I had the extended warranty on my old max and it saved me a sh!tload of money a few times, but on the other hand, some dealers screw you with the extended warranty and wont take it. Oh and by the way good luck and congrats on the new max. You are going to love the 6spd and here is the first mod you need to do:

Welcome to the club. I love my 6MT. I'd pass on the extended. I picked one up on mine and now it's just a big hassle because I'll have to return my car to stock to get any warranty work done...thankfully, I haven't needed any work yet.

Sounds like my car but with the benefit of a 6MT....which I couldve used against a VW R32 yesterday. Congrats.

BTW, Harrisburg, PA is close enough to the NYC/NJ area to possibly warrant data dots/brackets for your HIDs.

i see most people think i should get the warrantee, really think i should get it($1200 4 years)? I wont get screwed on it because my neighbor runs the dealership . i been thinkin about putting the hid stuff on, its 175 for some antitheft kit right?, anyone gotten it, what r the dots?

oh, and im not getting it today because they dont have the title, the bank does, so the dealership is gonna overnight the money and then the title will probly get overnighted back so hopefully i can have it early next week. They offered to put a dealer plate on so i could have it today and this week but i'm in no rush.

Buy an extended warranty from a credit union is possible, same coverage and 1/2 the price,,,,, dealers make about 50% on the warranties they sell.

You dont have to buy one immediately,,, just buy one within a month or so before your bumper to bumper runs out

I'd drive the car for a few months to get a feel of it. If the car is strong and won't have any problems, then you dont need that wtty. You can get that extended wtty anytime later on.

Congrats on your purchase. To purchase the extended warranty ask yourself this
question. Am I going to abuse the car somewhat (ie excess speeding, engine/tranny
mods, and lowering of the car) and are you mechanically incline to do the work yourself. By answering these questions will determine if you need the warranty or not.
I didn't get one because I can strip my Max apart and put it together without any
problems plus I have these wonderful ORG members to answer questions my FSM can't
answer. Goodluck and again congrats with your new Maxima.

Mike
