If I could afford three cars (including my wife's)......if I had that kind of cash, I sure wouldn't still be driving a maxima G35C baby.

QMax doesn't really care about what we drive....he just wanted to brag about his Land Cruiser Must be nice to be 20 yrs old and have a landcruiser AND a maxima....

besides....who needs a winter car when you have the max?

I work from home so I just don't drive

........and when I do I take the volvo cross-country. That thing is a TANK in the snow. It's 100x better than my F-150 was (sold it to buy my maxima) even in 4-wheel.

ye im with you man, winter car is usually the beater car, not a landcruiser with navi, blah, blah, blah, 3 TVs, blah, blah. seems like the max should be the winter car in that case, but i know, i know its the 4WD.

anyways i got a 1990 5spd miata beater that i use when i dont wanna take the maxima out. yes, my "winter car" is RWD and convertable, cant wait till it snows here!

I'm 22 and I toyed with the idea of buying a 500 dollar beater or something for the winter ... before I realized that spending $500 would break me and I couldn't afford the insurance on two cars. So no winter car for me. I'd even take a set of winter rims right now.

Since I can't afford anything else at the moment, my winter, spring, summer & fall car is the Maxima.

Do heated seats matter when it's -43*C?

My winter car is the Lamborghini Murcielago that sits in my Maxima's back seat... whether I am driving the 99 SE or 00 GLE... Just kidding about car in backseat I don't need separate cars in Texas except for tomorrow when it may snow. Then again that snow may melt 3 seconds after it hits the ground.

Not loaded, but i still live at home - thus a decent disposable income. Being a car fanatic causes some of us to spend money where we shouldn't.

Spend money where we shouldn't, sounds to me like you've recently gotten around to lowering the Max which you always say you're going to do soon, you slacker

It hit high 40s in South Florida last week, it was soo cold I started looking for a winter car w/o luck. Oh well at least it didn't snow this time, luckily my guy friends don't mind driving me around so I don't have to drive my Maxima during the cold winter.

Yea im 20 but a good education goes a long way so im able to afford what i have and i thank god everyday for what i have.

If there's an ice storm here in TX I just call into work, saves me the trouble of buying a winter car. I've always got my wife's Stratus just in case, or I can borrow my dad's Grand Cherokee. I toyed with the idea of buying a third car for backup, but at $500 my choices at work were limited to a '79 Caddy Fleetwood with a 455 and a 4 barrel and about 150k miles (gets about 8 MPG or so) or a '95 mitsu mirage coupe with 225k on the clock. There's been a couple others...hmm.. '81 Chevy 3/4 ton with a 454 and a 3 speed stick...bah...91 civic with a jumped timing belt. Your choices aren't good at $500.

The only reason I wouldn't want to take my Max out in the ice (other than 250 hp and FWD) is because of all the jerk drivers out here who crash just trying to get out of their drive ways.

When you're 20yrs old and a student/engineer you'd better able to afford a '03 Max and '02 Landcruiser. It must have been a tough toss-up between that and the +$30k Armada.

Then again, he does live in NYC...

2002 Honda CRV.

I have a 2002 Honda CRV EX AWD. Great little sport ute. We bought it new in the summer of 02. It is my wifes daily driver it has 48000 miles on it . Anyway my wife does not work when its bad weather her job is always closed. So for the most part I drive her CRV when the weather is bad. I have a 2000 Maxima with 49200 miles on it. I drive her sparingly in the winter months & not at all in bad weather. But in reality there has been that occasional time when I am already at work & the weather turns bad..... snow, ice, rain what have you.....& the Max does just fine with my Pirelli P Zero Nero MS tires when asked too.

Q Max, what else did you expect? Most of your peers dont get an 03 Max for b-day gift, nor they can afford "relatively inexpensive" Land Cruiser. They are working hard everyday not to have the 2nd car but to afford one, and it is very tough in the real world. The sense of jealousy is very natural here.

A $25k gift and a $35k "beater".
The real world: there are plenty of full-time Mech E.s who would be uncomfortable owning either/both cars.
