Tein S-Tech - Your thoughts?

I know there's always a ton of questions about springs. I had thought I was going to go with the Progress springs for the drop. There's a group deal right now in the GD forum for springs and GR-2s for 495 shipped. Then, the guy posted that he had some Tein S-Techs for 143 (shipped?). The drop is even lower so I like that but I don't know too much about the Teins. What are you guys thoughts on that brand. I've visited Housecor's site on this but it doesn't say too much on the Teins.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

what struts are you guys running with your s-techs and did you cut your bumpstops? I had a friend cut mine but I think they were cut too much. I may have to buy new OEM bumpstops and not trim them. Your thoughts?

I was planning on running GR-2s. Would this still work? By the way, check the Groupbuy section for info on this groupbuy - 143 shipped, I believe, from importcarpartsp or something like that.

Thanks a lot - more info is welcome - so you're saying the ride is pretty great considering the drop?

I guess what I want to know is on the quality - how are they over the semi-long haul. Sagging? Getting a bad ride? How do they handle compared to the others?

there was a spring/strut poll not too long ago, a lot of people were using the s.techs and were very pleased with them. give me a few and ill do a search for it.

I got S-Techs on my '00 Se, and I'm happy with them. They're inexpensive, comfortable, and I believe they're the lowest drop for regular coil springs. (Other than going with coil-overs.) I didn't cut my factory bumpstops, but I will shortly, because on bigger bumps, it does bottom out a bit. I say go for it!

so are they more comfy then eibach springs? i have eibach but the drop is a bit uneven plus a little harsh and the s tech ARE nicer lookign but how would it compare to the ride quality?

I've installed the Progress/GR2 setup in 5th gens.
That setup rides excellent, the drop is nice & clean, not slammed.

I have heard some people bottom out on S-techs. The drop is lower up front than the H-techs which is nice, but not sure if it is worth it.

Expect to bottom out when you slam your car 2.2 inches

I'd suggest that you spend the extra hundred something bucks and get the Illuminas. There's a GD going on right now, and it's worth it to be able to fine tune it. I'm planning to get a set next year.
