HELP!!! Transmission Trouble

I hope that it is just something that came and went and I don't have to worry about it....but today I was driving around for work, I stopped at a stop light and when it turned green I put my foot on the gas....and it wouldn't move....I slammed my foot on the gas and it just barley started moving....almost like I had a manual and it was stuck in like 3rd gear or something. So with my foot all the way on the accerlorator I started to move pretty fast....but then another thing happened that freaked me out even more....I let my foot off the gas a little to slow down and let it shift, but it wouldn't shift out of gear...whatever gear I was in it wouldn't shift out of so I pull over to the side of the road put it in park and turn it off. I turn it back on and for about 3-4 secs the AT Check light was on then it turned off, then it started blinking, then it turned of once again and didn't come back on, and it started working again like normal...like it was before I stopped at the stop light. So what I am wondering is:

1. Is my tranny going out?
2. If it isn't going out...is it ok to drive on?
3. If no one knows what to do take it to the dealership? And see what they have to say and pay 100 bucks to find out that it is ok to drive on it.

Please any help would be greatly apperciated thanks

Have you checked the condition/levels of the AT fluid?

Yo wassup bro u should have a manufaturer warranty which goes out in 60,000 for your transmission. I would take it to a nissan dealer and have them look at it just tell them your transmission is slipping and they should take care of it for u. The same thing happened to me but mines was ah lil more suvere i couldnt even go reverse. But i took it in and with no charge they fixed it

I'm having the exact same issues with my 2k2 auto with 81,000km's. On occasion I've experienced the exact same problems, probably about 3 times in 3 years of having the car. I've heard somewhere that there is a tsb on our transmission, in which the dealer would replace some parts inside it. I have yet to get enough time to find and do the tsb but I think this may be the cause of our problems.

Thanks for the seggestions I will keep you guys updated...I am going to make an appointment after christmas with a dealership...but to tell ya the truth my car seems to be running better than it was before. It might just be a trick of the mind but my shifts from 1st to 2nd have been a lot smoother than I can remember....but I am going to take it in and let you guys know what was wrong (if anything)

Yeah its weird with my car too. It seems to be running better than ever and shifting perfectly, but its just on occasions that it does this. Once I get some free time after the holidays I'll bring it in.

Mass_Media, please keep us posted as well. Thanks!

Alright...so the dealer called me (along time ago I just remebered to post it hehehe sorry) to go and get my car he didn't tell me what was wrong with it so I go and pick it up and they hand me the keys and I say something like "So what was wrong with it and what do I owe you" he says to me that the transmission just had a 'hick-up' (his words) and that it worked it self out of the system....so he calls the lot tech to go get my car all the while I am waiting for him to tell me what I owe for the check-up on my car, another customer walks in and he goes over and helps them....so I am like you jerk I was here first (not to him I thought it) so I see the the lot tech pull my car up then he walks over and hands me the keys...I am thinking what?? So I go over to the guy and I say do I owe anything? and he tells me that this is something that is covered under my warrenty.....I didn't think check ups where covered (I have been in before with a check engine light to these guys before and they charge me 80 bucks)

So I don't know what was wrong he didn't tell me but what ever it is its gone and tranny is running smoother than ever

Watch it closely. You'll be kicking yourself in another 10K if that auto goes out (which that are prone to do) and I guarantee that service manager won't be telling you it was a "hiccup" the next time. He'll be telling you $3K please.

If your AT light came on the code would be stored in the 'puter what did the code come back as?

I would definately watch it and keep the paper copy where you had it looked at. Mine is going in the shop soon. I've had the tranny briefly slip and 2nd gear is shifting a bit too firm upon medium acceleration..

He didn't tell me any codes...where can I get the AT codes pulled from can I got to like checkers or something and will they do it? or is it something completly different? Where I have to go to a special place?

I would definetly take it to the dealer, the tranny is covered until 60K let them fix it, maybe you'll get a new tranny.
