Front Bumper Replacement

Hello Maximas!

I've sustained some damage to my front bumper on the driver side (a little ding and a nice amount of scratches). I am going to try to fix it w/out a new bumper so what would be your $.02 on what I should try to do? I think I may be able to push out the ding, but what about those scratches? It looks like two of them are deep and the others might be able to get buffed out. What products are good to get and how should I go about doing this?

If that doesn't work, how much is a new bumper?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Being that our bumpers are plastic, heat often times helps to restore the original shape. However, depending on how bad the "dent" is, it may be better to replace the bumper. If the bumper is "creased," we typically replace it. A new bumper typically costs about $250.00 plus the refinish price. As far as the scratches, if they're surface scratches, then you can just sand the bumper down and repaint. If they're gouges, then you need to fill it. We use a plastic repair filler, as compared to regular bondo. Hope this helps a little

Thank you very much for your reply! It was very helpful. I'm taking the car in on Wednesday to get it looked at. I'll let you know how it goes.

The link above is for a new front bumber color matched. I think it is a little pricey.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33640

or this one for $150 shipped with no paint.

Hope this helps your search.

I dealt with them before they got good stuff. Thats where body shops get their parts and then mark them up 200%. If you have doubts, if they are close, drive up there and check it out. I dealt with the one in Chicago area.

Is the 02 bumper any different? I see it costs more, They look completely the same. Are they compatible with the 00 body? I too am replacing my bumper.
