I will be very happy when frosty gets his car back. His old setup really needed to be redone. I have my own ideas about what I may be able to do and if the work is as good as I have seen then Travis may have more business from the Baton Rouge area. I am sure the Maxima.org community would also appreciate some quality turbo kits and high performance parts.

Keep the stock 5th gen ECU(use eManage and J&S) and if you make a clean header setup like SpeedForceRacing did on the VQ35 Altima but with a Garrett GT35R....let me know how much.

Sounds like a sick project...good luck!

If we were all sensible with our money, we'd buy stocks or term deposits or something. Modding your car is about having fun, not making sense!

I'm eager to hear how you deal with the tranny. Are you going to cryo the gears or what?

sounds like an awesome project. Wish i could be part of it. Being 17 all these stuff is like a dream to me. I would love to have the money to be able to mod my car like most of the cars on this forum. Good luck on the project and keep us all updated!

Hey Sean, thing will come handy, your maybe only 17 but you got an entire life in front of you and you already have the max, so it's not bad at all. I personaly bought my first max at 37 years old I'm now 43 and still have the heart of a 17 year old in term of passion to mod my car, the main difference is I have 25 years of hards works behind me that why I can afford the few thousand $$$ I throw in the max every year, if that can serve you, at 17 I was driving a 1975 civic Honda, that car was a real POS.

Cheers

Thanks man. Its pretty cool to have people that encourge you and are pretty cool. It just kinda sucks when there are some punks whos mom and dad buy then mustang GTs then they get 1k dollars worth of tickets in the first weekend he has it then when someone hits him they give him their 04 GTO. But at least i work for my stuff.

If you dont mind me askin, what do you do for a living? I really love automobiles. Im not sure what i want to do as a career. Im looking into goin to college for a business major or soemthing along those lines. Ive been around computer my whole life, my dad is a programmer, but i dont know what i should persue. Thanks for chit chatting!

Sean

BTW Iiliac, i hope you dont mind but i used ur sig in my power point for my business class.

I plan on doing that once I blow up my current tranny... I figure there's no point in cryo treating and shot peening my original tranny now that it has 60,000 miles on it and has been turboed for 24,000 of that. Though it's holding up great and hasn't skipped a beat. It still has liquid smooth shifts.

I know a guy who had a '95 Maxima who dynoed 538whp and 603tq and thats on the stock motor, stock intake manifold, and no meth and he normally has his MEVI on and runs Meth.
He also ran an 11.9 1/4 mile. So far he has the worlds fastest and most powerful maxima out there.

And this one time...at band camp...I met a guy...named Hal.

He "only" ran a 11.98, Mardi is still the 1/4mile king with an 11.91sec. ET, but Hal trapped higher so it depends on your definition of "worlds fastest".

The result will be interesting, and I am not tryign to hate. Anybody who knows anything about drag racing will laugh at the though of a FWD drag car and that is what it will be. Go talk to some of the guys who have been doing it for years and see how long you can make them laugh.

I would clean up the turbo setup and spend the time and money to have it very well tuned. I would not go for all that power because it already has enough. Do some suspension work, engine mounts, etc. Make it somewhat reliable too.

500 WHP doesn't ever belong in a FWD car...no way you could ever hook it up...you'd get smoked by stocker LT1's on D/R's and every RWD car with 250+ RWHP out there.

This project really dead ? WTF is going on ? I asked for some feed pipes and manifolds for my own turbo project but it looks like SSR will be getting my $$$. 500WHP does NASTY things to 500WHP RWD cars on the highway.

Tell me how he's gonna hook up 500FWHP on anything except HUGE drag radials...my 300 will own him in the 8th and possibly in the quarter unless he manages to stop the wheel spin in the first 16th. And, how much $$$$ do you have to put into a Max to be able to run 500HP without blowin up the drivetrain?
I'm thinkin it's understeer-city if he gets in the twisties with that kind of FWHP unless there's a ton of bricks in the trunk!

1st of all having owned a 547WHP Sentra before I know its not the eassiest thing in the world to keep contained on the street, but show me a Viper GTS on the highway from a 90MPH roll on and I will pull bus lenghts on him to 175MPH. Once you are up to speed its not that bad controlling wheel spin as you can modulate the gas pedal. Its not the eassiest thing in the world to do off the line but you can do it after some time. Another thing is Maxima drive train will handle 500WHP just fine, engine, tranny, axles, ALL handle 500WHP just fine. All you need is a well built turbo kit on a tunned engine and everything will be good even at 600WHP. Hals car wasn't tuned good for **** and it still made 500WHP almost, it still used ALOT of stock stuff on it.

Understeer ? whats that ? I don't understeer in my Maxima, if you have a properly suspended Maxima it will actually handle neutrally or oversteer when needed.
Horsepower has nothing to do with understeer, please explain to me why 50HP Geo Metros would understeer ? Is it due to their sheeer power of the 1.0L 3 banger thats trying to push Golf kart sized tires ? I autoX, and road race- and personally I don't take advice from people who drive F-bodies about handling. Seeing how they handle as well as a baptist church bus on a Sunday morning drive to mass.
